She was in Ghana when the fires started.
The reporter asked her is she should be visiting Ghana while the fires were unfolding.
She was there when it started, there were no fires when she left LA for Ghana.
This reporter is just a trouble maker trying to stir up dirt when the mayor just arrived.
The mayor looked tired after the trip.
I am sure she never would have gone to Ghana if the fires were already burning when she was preparing the trip.
The reporter is probably working for a political group or a garbage supermarket weekly news rag.
The fact you named her "democratic" mayor above this thread says it all. It's all political.
I am not a democrat, but I smell political garbage. Be honest!

That is her party affiliation so nothing wrong with pointing that out so others can see how that party governs

Anyhow God knows what's happening in California.
God is aware of it.
Nothing happens on this world without his knowledge.
And God knows the reason behind it all.
Our best response would be prayers.

stay there since being African is more important to her than being American
Yeah, California be reaping what they have been sowing.
