Well I need to give some credit to @Enoch111 who opened the door on this question for which now I will give an answer.
It is true that Moses and Elijah represent the Law and the Prophets focusing in on what the Lord Jesus Christ is about to accomplish as per Mark 9:4
It was more than just a death the Lord was to experience! His decease held more import to Moses and Elijah than we could ever imagine!
One commonality that all three had was God's manifestations in the high mountain, as per Exodus 34:4-8 and 1 Kings 19:9-12
But this in not what they all had in common, which was cause for them being hand picked by God in the Mountain to strengthen Christ!
In Luke 9:31, which Enoch took us to, we have the word "exodus" and this is the work which all three have in common!
It's all about their EXODUS!
Moses:
Led the first Exodus - Psalms 77:20 (past)
Elijah:
will led the second exodus - Malachi 4:5 (future)
The Lord Jesus Christ:
led the greatest exodus of all time - Luke 9:31 & Ephesians 4:8 (present)
Moses in speaking to Christ explained how Israel (those faithful dead and buried) and their hope was 100% reliant on Christ fulfilling his mission to crucify the flesh and take those who have been in slavery all their lives into his resurrection and glory.
Elijah has unfinished work to bring Israel into the New Covenant, not without great judgements and suffering. His future work will be all about turning hearts toward God and the Lord Jesus Christ. His work could not be done without the Lord's sacrifice!
Jesus exodus is here: Ephesians 4:8 & Hebrews 2:15 (and many more verses!)
Moses exodus revealed a nation being baptised through a parted sea! 1 Corinthians 10:2
Christ exodus revealed in his own life the true baptism both in life and in death Luke 12:50
Elijah's future work will be to bring refined Israel into this baptism. Mark 9:12 & Elijah’s work will be a total success after the rebels are purged Ezekiel 20:35-38. You will recall John only turned the hearts of “many” Luke 1:16-17 but the work through Elijah will restore "all things"
Moses and Elijah encouraging Jesus Christ to take those who are captive into the captivity of his own life.
No greater work could be done than on that Mount encouraging the Lord to press on toward his crucifixion.
Moses & Elijah's very salvation depended on it!
Thanks all for participating in this study!
God bless
