I'm being lead to expose Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist as a serial pornographer for allowing pornographic ads to be shown to the public without even as much as a warning to the user. He should have named it Craigslust instead.

I would like to find other Christians that feel lead to take back our online communities, one site at a time. Right now for me, that site is Craigslist.

These sexual ads are mostly in the Community section of the site and at any given time of the day you can find no less than 40 sexually explicit ads per category... WITH imagery!!

I am a web programmer so I have very intimate knowledge on how to do this and be successful at it. I need other Christians to help though.

I want to start by flagging these posts by city so they come down. I am finishing up the development of a website right now that will showcase (blurred) all of Craig Newmark's pornography along with updates on what we've done to mitigate the problem and what we plan to do in the future until he complies with decency.

Our Christian community will FORCE Newmark to take control of the content he allows on his platform.

Is there anyone that wants to do this with me?

Thanks

Maybe I'm misunderstanding . . . is the idea to "out" him so he'll start acting better?

Much love!

Didn't this all come out some years back, and he didn't change anything?

Please don't misunderstand me, I'd be perfectly happy to see all of that shut down. I think it has to happen by enforcing laws against such, but the powers that be don't want that, and he's perfectly happy to continue. No?

Much love!

Yes. Several years ago there were FED UP parents, just like me that forced Newmark's hand. That was when he removed all of the subcategories: m4w, w4w, m4m, t4m, t4w, etc; All sinful and denigrating our society! Now that the freaks no longer have those subsections to post in, they're using the other community sections to post their trash in.

I've had it and I'm going after this guy tooth and nail, with the power of Christ behind me we will get the pornography removed. If we allow it, then we deserve everything we get.

I could care less if these sexual deviants want to do each other, that's their business, but Newmark has the responsibility to protect the children from seeing that crap, either with a paywall, or a login area that he can sweep it all behind.

You may look to laws to change this, but I look to Christ and his Great Commission and the gift He's given me to make that change. Through the power of Christ, WE are the change.

OK, I understand now.

Heavenly Father, I pray you will annoint this man's ministry to accomplish what is in his heart to do! I pray you will raise up men and women to stand with him, who are able to join him in this work, do destroy this work of the devil! Thank You for Your love for Your children, I pray you will show yourself mighty in this work, to save these children from harm. I ask this in Jesus' Name, for His glory!

I remember vividly my first exposure to pornography when I was 10 years old, completely unexpected. Adreneline imprints memories, and these memories can stay for a lifetime. This kind of experience can change how a child's mind works. And the "slippery slope" is a very real thing. Pornography, particularly for children, can be devastating. I'll be praying for you in every rememberance.

Much love!

Thank you, Marks! I really appreciate the prayers! The Lord has put this on my heart real heavy and I just want to do His will.

I also remember seeing porn for the first time in my life but I forgot about the Adrenaline I felt as I looked at it. You're right, I remember feeling that too! Unfortunately for me though, I ended up in a life of looking at porn myself. I was a slave to it until Christ broke those chains for me. PRAISE GOD! I suppose that's why it's so near and dear to my heart. I want to protect the innocent children from ending up in a life of sin as I was. Getting away from porn was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, and as you say, it changes how the mind works. It's just like a drug.

I just found this forum post on Pornography. I haven't read it all yet, I'm still reading it but it looks like it's all Scriptural. There are a lot of excellent points in this post for anyone that thinks that pornography is benign!

Here is something I wrote to share with my church awhile back, in case you are interested, concerning the chemistry of the brain in regard to these things.

Much love!

I skimmed over it, until I saw too many triggers in that for me to read it. I don't want graphic descriptions. My brain gets ahold of things and runs runs runs, and I have to be careful.

The reason I know about the damage to the brain is I've got it bad, from porn and other abuse. By the time I was 18 and out of the house I was nearly destroyed, and I'm still recovering.

Suffice to say, I feel strongly about this also!

Much love!

Marks, thank you for that document! I'm reading it now and I commend you for standing up and sharing that!! Praise God that you are out of it! I've gotten through the first 2 pages and I can relate to everything you wrote. I do believe that this thread will end up being very helpful to others struggling with a pornography addiction.

I'm new here and I don't know anyone but my hope is that God will touch the heart of other Christians here that might want to be a part of this. I'm not even sure what it looks like yet, but Christ is the one I'm following and I'm moving when He says to move.

For those who struggle . . .

Isaiah 57:13-21 KJV
13) When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;
14) And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
15) For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
16) For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.
17) For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.
18) I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
19) I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.
20) But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21) There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Much love!

@marks, that's perfect! I'll use that in my ministry!

My ultimate goal is to host a self-help group in a face to face setting where we can all share, encourage and pray for one other. This was the idea I had when I went to Craigslist to post in the Community Group section. Of course, my ad was flagged 9x. Craigslist itself, or the users don't seem to like anything having to do with breaking an addiction, or with the mention of Jesus Christ.

After I finish with Newmark, I hope to continue that ministry. When I do, I'll use Isaiah 57:13-21 as part of the message. It's fitting, thank you!

That passage speaks to me so deeply it's hard to even talk about!

That was probably your go-to verse while you were battling the porn. I have a couple of those too. I still go back and read them for encouragement.

Speaking of encouragement, thank you! I'm not sure how to get that ministry off the ground if I'm not allowed to promote it through free sites like Craigslist. If you, or anyone have any ideas, I'm all ears. :)

Taking back?

It was never ours in the first place.

I never go to CL. The news of a serial killer finding it as a hunting ground, and other evil preying there is warning enough.

As to the pornographic advertising,if as you say it is, I would think CL is breaking federal laws if those ads are freely visible to minors visiting the site.

From 2018:

Some of these links say the porn issue was done away with.
