Another question about smartphones.

The one I bought has a fingerprint scanner on the back to unlock the phone.

Is it necessary to use that? Because in an emergency my elderly, disabled mother might need to use the phone.

I wouldn't want her to be locked out of the phone.
You can call 911 without unlocking a phone.

Thanks. I decided not to lock the phone at all. I don't do anything but use the phone...no banking apps, etc.

Is it ok to clear the cache for the apps? Trying to free up more space on phone... although I am just over half full.

I did clear cache on some apps I don't use.

Do you have an Android phone?

It should be Ok to clear cache, but it won't do much to give you more room. So long as your phone isn't filling up I wouldn't mess with it.

For apps I don't use at all....is it ok to uninstall all updates to create more space? I was always hesitant to do that.

Right now my Android phone is just a little over half full with storage. I just got a cell phone earlier this year....just use it for phone calls. No texting.

You can try to remove apps you are not using. your phone may not allow you to remove them.

Actually the unused apps that I am allowed to uninstall, I already have uninstalled them.

But the apps that you cannot uninstall....they have an "uninstall all updates" option. So I wondered if it's safe to uninstall those updates....if I will never use that app.

It is an Android phone...so maybe someone with an Android phone knows?

I am with Consumer Cellular (they sold me the phone)...guess I can also ask them if I start to run out of space.
