Father's Day celebration. They asked men trivial questions like what color the children’s eyes are, what their pediatrician’s name is. They even asked one grandfather what is the date of his 2 grandchildren’s birthday. When he gave the month and year, the FEMALE interviewer told him that was not good enough. What was the year they were born?

To justify the exciting conclusion, the women had to pass no test. It was automatically bestowed. The best dads are moms the Pre announcement proclaimed to end the segment. It presented men as jokes, buffoons and did not honor men at all. It honored women on Father’s Day as the superior dad! Thoughts?

My husband has had a similar issue just visiting his parents church. But your example is unacceptable.

Ephesians 5:24 calls wives to reverence their husbands. Thats the King James for you.

It was convicting to reflect on that. I am learning reverence but not from any church. Im seeking it directly from God and my husband as we navigate all the family wisdom matters our church experiences never taught us.

Dads are so so important! A church that would deny that even for laughs has no right standing as a beacon of society. I don't expect my husband to accept stuff like that, if it means anything.

I take it this was run by a few of the women in the church who are volunteers for some sort of ministry. Sounds to me like a few airheads are causing problems without realizing it.

Far be it for anyone to gracefully accept correction in this day and age. You may have to leave if nothing is done about it. And if something is done, it may cause a schism.

If you do leave...exit with a letter to higherups, giving your account, your witness.

As for what you witnessed, this is the state of much of the church, revealed. The Bride has her own children and does not know the father...and is proud of it.

What a weird thing to do. Whether this is an issue to leave really depends on how everything else is, and also how they handle this if you raise your concerns. You may not be alone with your concerns.
How does the pastor feel about it ?

It would probably be better if it was. A few years ago they humiliated men by making them participate in a tie knot making contest where the "winner" sat it a reclining chair AS IF this has anything to do with what father's are about.

The "Pre" is a new age video before the service hosted by rotating people. The Father's Day "Pre" was hosted by the Next Generation Pastor. A guy in his late 30's. He is the one who said with a big smile on his face that "the best dads are moms."

I assume the lead pastor approves all the "Pre's." And I sent him an email last Monday. As you know, I have the capacity to express myself rather forthrightly and forcefully. No response. That tells me it is probably time to go.

Coincidently, I'm reading a book now called No More Christian Mr. Nice Guy. In it, the author observes that churches today are not a safe place for men to be. :(

Contact the church, and explain how unbiblical and demeaning it was to those men and all the men in the church. If the church leaders apologize and truly repent then continue if they don't see a problem. time to find a new church.

first they need to be corrected

I sent an email. No response.

There is something coming up Saturday. I'll wait until then to reach out by phone.

Regarding the weirdness of it, the author of the book Women Can't Hear What Men Don't Say observes
Hatred toward women is called sexism.
Hatred toward Blacks is called racism.
Hated toward men is called a joke.

Funny how our society is hypersensitive toward everyone but men. They're just a big joke. I'm sad that the lead Pastor cannot see it. In my email I asked how would women in the church react if you said the best thing about mom's is the can TAKE a joke and then end the humiliaing skit by proclaiming "the best moms are dads."

I suspect many women would leave before the church service began, condemning it as misogynistic and taking to slandering via Facebook, not soul searching like I am. It is obviously hateful. And it is no less hateful because men were targeted.

Regarding how everything else is; I initially gave weight to this. Upon further deliberation, I don't think it matters. God does not take a joke. And man is made in the image of God. Why turn men into jokes? If the church cannot properly honor men on Father's Day but use that day to humiliate men, something is seriously wrong.

AGREED.

The enemy knows men are to be the head of a household like Jesus is the head of the church. So he will do everything to tear down the head of the household, family with mocking and jokes as a disguise.

no wonder the church is 80% woman when they treat man with such mocking. We need to honor and encourage more men at church, to lead their family, to be present in the lives of their children.

The "church" that wants to entertain with jokes and skits are not a true church.

I can't even comprehend a church uttering forth "the best dads are moms"

It's just a nutty nonsensical thing to say as the Bible is clear Men or Fathers have their role and the females has their role too....but somewhat different. My question would be why isn't there a large group of men rising up calling a meeting asking why such nutty crazy statements are being said?

OK they might be off the wall and nutty in yapping off such a strange unusual thing......but what about the rest of things they believe and do? Is it just an anomaly of one thing or is there a lot more nutty crazy things they get into and say....about other subjects? I'd have to know the more bigger picture at what they're like to make an assessment as to whether I'd leave.

Sorry to hear that your church is suffering under this progressive Agenda.

I am reminded of Proverbs 29:18 and the vision Christ has for his church. And that has been set aside in many churches by lack of participation in church leadership from would be elders. Now some other heierachy is in place.

Not only is progressive thought in churches, but many are also leaving churches for this reason. I've visited many churches in the 90's for the Billy Graham crusade. They still sang hymns and women dress modestly back then. Then enter Joel Osteen. The door was open now, it spread to weaken the Cross. Traditional churches now do not use evangelist preachers because it might scare off congregants. Rant over.

Wow- how sad.
I would first make an appt to speak directly with the Pastor and perhaps his wife along with your wife. The pastor's wife knows wives should respect husbands. Give them the verses!
Is he liberal? ( if so - YES, get out yesterday)
Sounds as if he isn't in charge very well. If it was just all in good fun albeit very bad taste- maybe you were too sensitive? I say that with respect, but sometimes it's just a misunderstanding. I agree that at the least it was very distasteful. Worst- totally dispectful. Some have a sense of humor that needs adjustment. I would not leave over a foolish sense of humor, but I would ask what sort of message that sends the church about fathers.
I would do this in love, ready to forgive. Explain how it was upsetting to you. Make them think! I'm sure other men in the church were offended- bring them along if you know of any. If not, I would talk to the Pastor alone first before asking others.

Men and women are both under attack in this country, but it should not ever be so in the church.
SCOTUS doesn't know what a woman is, but knows she is one, and men are winning beauty pageants and women's sports, in the bathrooms, and dresses, beauty counters, dressing rooms etc. Women are also under attack despite the pro-women narrative.

I wish you success in helping them to see!

I'm afraid that is more likely than not.

No. A book I read on boundaries said that you know you are in an unhealthy situation when you are expected to have a high tolerance for unacceptable behavior.

Hiding humiliating people under the banner of a joke would not work against Blacks or women. Do you think women would be OK with "the best moms are dads?"

If you find that to be so, that would be a que for me to leave after I have spoken to him about it, unless he hears you.

Yes, it is unhealthy. I don't disagree with you. I would have to simply make sure of what I'm actually dealing with before making a conclusion. The other thing, is IF he does turn out to be leaning liberal- instead of just leaving- I would gather like minds to speak with him. It may be just what he needs. If he doesn't listen- then go.
