I can't believe that Lambano.
God is not a God of confusion.
I believe He desires us to know Him, wasn't this one of the reasons for the incarnation?
A real revelation - and the final revelation.

I disagree with a lot of Catholicism and I dislike the fact that bible study is so scarce in that denomination....
but I'm really tired of belonging to a "church", Christianity, religion -call it what you will- that cannot even agree with itself regarding the theology of that religion.

Yeah. I think this is a REAL problem for Christianity.
my near and dear friend , catholicism is not alone with this lack of bible reading . Its all over the realm of Christendom now .
The basic gospel and teachings of JESUS and later the apostels can hardly anyone even agree on , let alone even desire
to really learn them and keep them . That has been the problem all along for such a long time .
That men desire to sit under men who preach things that feed their own hearts desire and not rather THE TRUTH .
And now in these last of the last days a delusoin has come in the name that it is love and is of GOD
to merge them all and to merge them even with the false religoins of their green mother earth .
We have us a serious delusion going on around here my friend . And many seem to love to have it so .
My advice remains the same , very simple advice , Let us get in the bible and learn for ourselves
what it is that most all men no longer teach and rather twist unto their own destruction .

I'm thinking of quitting posting.
Started out for the fellowship many years ago...
But I don't see any anymore.
I see too much bad doctrine and divisiveness.
Not what Jesus wanted.
: (
Its a hard thing to watch my friend . But we were warned what was to come and come it has in these last hours .
My advice is we get in our bible and we read that book and even do so with others . enjoy it and learn it well .
And continue to , by His grace expose the darkness , foul doctrines , all error and all sin .
We must do what is best for this people and all unto the GLORY of GOD . Stay viligant and be diligent
for a delusion of great strength has been given unto this last generation and many seem to love a lie .

This man is one of the main leaders of the lie i just wrote about to Gods Grace .
And many are co helpers to this goal , this lie , this so called love
that has Trod CHRIST right under foot . This is what interfaith was always all about.
To bring this people together to be as one under A FAT LIE they believe will usher upon this world PEACE N SAFETY .
But in a day and in an hour that is known to no man
the DOOR will shut and all outside will wail under SUDDEN destruction from above by the VERY CHRIST they all denied .

Glad I am not the only one. I know he is doing his best and don't doubt his holiness, but I feel like a lot of what he has said in the past goes against our faith.
Happily, what the Pope has stated a few times was just comments and not in the authority of the Pope, or ex-cathedra as it's called.
However, he does have authority and even bishops and priests have been divided over his comments. It's my hope that the next Pope will be in keeping with traditional Catholic values and teachings.
He's causing much confusing by making statements and then saying he didn't mean it that way from one writing or another.

I wish it would though, but then again it would probably teach against it unfortunately.
The one good thing about the CC is that it doesn't teach anything that it's not sure about.
It is very serious about this.
You can even believe in evolution, but evolution that is planned by God.
IOW, God has to be involved in it...not the evolution as some believe in that life just came about and evolved into humans.
Even science is unable to prove this and many scientists have moved away from this theory.
No, don't worry. If I were to attack Catholicism I would do it openly because it is not liked very well on this site. I initially called this thread "Why I refuse to conver to Catholicism" which would have made you question my sincerity even more. I changed the title because I don't really refuse and actually kind of want to.
This is nice to hear.
Too many attacking the church without even understanding what it teaches.
I went on for pages (something I don't normally do) with a member about justification. He kept insisting that the CC teaches justification by works - I kept telling him that it doesn't and why - but he just wouldn't accept it.
What's true is true and some don't even know the teachings but just like to attack.

What I was referring to when I said that was how Peter tried to teach that only Jews could convert to Christianity and how he believed that baptism and circumcision were an absolute necessity for salvation, whereas Paul taught that anyone could convert and that baptism and circumcision were things you SHOULD do but didn't necessarily have anything to do with salvation.
Ok. Yes, I agree.
I'd study a bit on baptism more.
Jesus said that the Apostles were to teach and BAPTIZE....
even some Protestant theologians believe baptism is necessary for salvation.
However, not to worry, in Catholic theology your DESIRE for baptism is sufficient IF you should die before you actually get baptized.
(sounds right to me).
Some Churches use the NASB translation which has a few flaws. One of the translators backed out because he feared he was committing a horribld sin.

Some Churches and the Vatican use the NAB which was even criticized bt Catholics (Cringey Notes in the Catholic New American Bible)

I like the Revised Standard Version a good bit but it is not without its own problems (some versions use "Maiden" instead of "Virgin", removal of some verses, etc.)
Agreed. Every version has something or other we may not like. I use the NASB but I have many different versions and I'll check all to see what they say. Biblehub has this online now, so it makes this much easier. I do like the RSV.
The comments would be slightly different depending on which version a person uses.
Also, Catholic bibles are now being translated from the Greek instead of from the Latin - I might have said this already.
I will try to look into it.
Good idea.

You know amigo,
I think I liked atheism better.
At least those persons have some character and some morals.
This new thing now - which has come about BECAUSE OF the atheists...
is much worse. Not only is God taken out of everything because this new thing (let's call it woke theology)
is atheist ---BUT they also have little character, if any, AND they have no morals -- anything goes.

Where does it go from here?
The delusion has already been sent and already has been accepted by many.

we Protestants have strong opinions about something we know nothing about
Then why the strong opinion?

As Christians we do know what is involved in salvation and as you know it has nothing to do with nice buildings, eloquent prayers, rituals etc.

I was attempting to get the poster to consider what is important.
Clearly I failed as it upset you.

It is up to you and I can recommend praying about it and hear what God has to say about it. If you do wish to convert to Catholicism, then you can go to your local Catholic parish and register for RCIA classes. I’m Catholic myself and Catholicism is a beautiful religion. However, I would pray about it before making this decision. If you want to, you can talk to the Priest at the parish about your interest in Roman Catholicism.

I would recommend attending Mass at your local Catholic parish before enrolling in RCIA. You are not required to be Catholic to attend Mass, but if you are not Catholic, you are not allowed to receive communion (you can still wait in the communion line, cross your arms over your chest with both hands on shoulders, are receive blessings from the Priest). Chances are, nobody is going to pressure you to convert.

My advice is don’t listen to all the anti catholic posts. These are people who would rather be arrogant and judge others and not take the time and make a sincere effort to humble themselves, keep an open mind, and learn more about the faith. It is best not to acknowledge their existence and ignore them. The bottom line is only God should be the judge of whether a person is saved or not, not other humans.
I agree God is the only judge of salvation but He gave us His word in written form, in the person of Jesus and of His Spirit so that we can judge what is right and wrong. So we can judge what teachings and message we listen to. So that we can judge where and who we will unite with.

i was born to a woman who claims catholic and grew up in the catholic church and I know just how wrong their practices are and how many of them mock Jesus. I read the Bible for myself and seek Him and now I can say I am a follower of Christ Jesus.

I hope I didn't get in the way of you and the OP.
I was just stating my point.
Are we not allowed to post to anyone else on here except the OP??
Some forums have this rule.

Anyway, I went back and checked....
what I meant that we know nothing about was THE MASS.

And yes, bldgs and rituals have nothing to do with salvation...
but it sure is nice!

(and I wasn't upset about anything...difficult to be upset at someone you don't even know).

I feel the same way.
I believe in the bread.
My English is not so good so I ask understand ding for that.
I have been to church two weeks ago. I have trouble with walking also that is even worse with backpain since I take my medicine.
But I walked better back to my place after the bread.

In our Church they say that Catholics do not see Jesus dead saves us from our sin and that that is Protestants who say that.
Actually what often is called wrong about the church I learned to see as good. I am learning and a beginner.
Altho I was Baptist as a baby in Catholic church. When we were young we went to the church and it always was a sunny day until my father did, I was or must have been eight or nine. Then life changed drastically.
While my father lived I felt my parents wanted to leave the church. I felt that would become a disaster because I loved the church. And so it became a disaster. The Catholic church is my favorite church.

The CC believes that Jesus died for our sins.
They believe that Jesus' atonement bought us back from the power of satan.
A person in the CC becomes saved in the same way as a person in any other Christian church (except for the reformed/Calvinist).
Every church that presents you with Jesus and the gospel story will be a good church.
Every church will have something about it that a person will not like. This is normal.
When you receive communion you become one with Jesus and all your sins are forgiven.
