Opioids should, in my opinion, be used as a last choice, but not only for terminal pain.
Chronic pain can also be terminal.
If an addict can recover and learn how to live and function, while on a maintenance dose of opioid, with or without eventual withdrawal, I believe the humane thing to do is provide it.
Too many people's children are dying from opioids.
The war on drugs has failed.
It's time that we, as the people of the God of the bible, admit it. Shalom. :)

The war on drugs has failed because it was a stupid childish war, they have just been playing games on the majority of people, keeping them ill informed and there is people who are making very good money out of such in political circles to truly want to stop it or get a handle on such.
This all one has to do in a war against such and that is to licence such and control the drugs, that way you get rid of all the criminal idiots, your doctor gives the ok for your licence to what ever drug you want and them people will start to act responsible and openly, the major problem with drugs is that people hide the reality, they fear being truthful because one gets punished due to such.
People with issues have to be able to freely come to get help.
The problems we have now under this system is way out of control and the drugs they take is cut with rubbish, people like rock stars have been on drugs from 15yo and are now in their 80's because they use pure un cut drugs and they can afford such so who cares what they do, it's the bastards that cut adding crap into such that must be dealt with by all people, do drugs responsibly could be the TV adds, get a licence and do drugs responsibly and shut down the back yarder moronic punks.

I think cannabis is like any other drug, in that benefits and side effects should be weighed against each other. Cannabis has an advantage in being the natural state of the drug, that is, a plant, rather than synthetic molecules formulated by a lab.

I think these kinds of questions are individual to the person. I agree, the best is when we have all we need from the food we eat, when that can happen. Someone with chemical deficits in their bodies may need the supplementation.

They claim CBD oil keeps the pain relief without making one high.

Yes a have a few and a dirt bike.
But I have never smoked dope in 24years nor do most of my good mates, I was 20yo when I first smoked dope and only on occasion and I met great people from the very wealthy to the poor, it was a great leveller taking people as they were and having a good time, the point of it was not to get high or ripped.
Some people drink to get drunk as a skunk but I only drink to be sociable tho yes I do remember i have drank to get wasted due to good reasons as to why I did, but I have always known when to stop.
I know of other people who do not know when to stop drinking, I believe they have lack of self control and that's a key factor in all people who have problems.
I remember how much I despised people who smoked dope, I did not have a clue what I was talking about on the issue and sure their are some rat bags but say 90% are fine people who do smoke dope and I have nothing against them who do. I would be more worried about one taking up smoking fags, they are over a dollar each now and I see young kids smoking fags it's painful to see such.

I started smoking dope because I had nothing to live for, if that was life forget it ! that was the reason and thank God for dope ! I had such a great time from then on met so many nice people, the people who I worked with and around were a pain ! they were the joke they needed to get a life ! the anger and rage of such people never happy, grumpy old bastards who only thought about themselves and did not care about anyone else try and rip you off was the golden rule they lived by and I could go on and on, if only they would chill out and become human the world would be a much better place.

If I wanted to smoke dope I would and I could not care what the law or anyone claimed at all. but their would only be one type that I would be bothered with and that was a purple plant, the smell is fine you do not cough and the ride is class all the way and all of the other dope is crap that I would not touch with a 39 and a half ft pole. a mate of mine grew it and I got it for nothing.

I have seen people ride bikes on dope but I never did, they claimed it was great but I was like no thanks man. they could still really ride well them dudes and I am not talking about plodding about but the hardest full on riding hill climes and rocky crap that's hard to ride and not come off.

I am not questioning if you did pot. But from what you describe, you are in a bad area. You might consider moving.

What if a follower of Christ has chronic pain and knows they have a weakness for opioids?
Can, or should, a new believer, a recovering Fentanyl addict, use cannabis while they recover?
I maintain that the best drug is no drug, since they all have side effects.
Then there is addictive behavior.

If it is prescribed by a physician for limited use- yes. Otherwise No!

Sorcery in the NT is pharamkea where we get our word pharmacy/pharmaceutical from. Drugs that induce an altered state can leave a person vulnerable for demonic oppression etc. So I would get your physician to tell you whether to use or not.

I use CBD oil for chronic arthritic pain. It works but has no thc in it.

I am not questioning if you did pot. But from what you describe, you are in a bad area. You might consider moving.

I moved from their in 1989 I grew up in that town and did sort of like known most people in the town so I knew all the bastards that's for sure, but then moved to far worse places for drugs Darwin and the Gold Coast and to where I am now.

In Darwin could and would smoke dope at the pub in side at the bar with no regard and no one gave a rats, only if the copes came people would put the joint out, other than that the cops were not interested in dope, other drugs yes they would go you for sure. and in South Australia you can grow two plants and dope is not an offence and in Canberra it's not an offence to carry X amount, or most of the political people would be kicked out of office. VIC cops are not interested in dope if they find such they will flush it down the dunny from what VIC people inform me 20 years ago.
I can't say I have talked about dope and such with my good old mates for 20years, it's just stevey boy up the road that comes and has a chat at times and 2 others that do smoke at times they claim, but I am happy were I live now it's a good place but drugged up idiot people can be living any were, even out in the bush lands has got some shocking ferrel types, so my cop mate informs me of how they live and that ok in a way but it's the kids that you feel for having to live with such trash. my cop mate has taken me out to see such places.
Boy does my cop mate hate the drug culture, he has seen it all and has no time for such at all. shocking story's he has informed me about and the MSM hide such from the public what truly goes on, it's all covered up.
The cops are the ones painted as the bad guys by the MSM, the MSM are so rude and go out of their way to make the police look as if they are in the wrong, I seen on TV one doctored up story and my cop mate informed me that that family is the worse in the town by far, with a rap sheet that's a mile long and the MSM back such as that up . I smoke menthol tobacco so I have 2 advantages. Both tobacco and menthol help you cough up phlem in the chest.
Say what you want about smoking... but I haven't gotten sick in a long long time.

I believe God created everything for a reason. I understand that medical marijuana helps some people?
I believe they used to use the hemp of the plant to make clothing and other things.
I'm not even sure if the American natives didn't use it in their peace pipes to promote a relaxed atmosphere.
I smoked weed for many many years. Never in public, never at work.
I would have a little before I went to bed and it would help me sleep.
Now, Marijuana is legal to grow in most states. Some have restrictions for medicinal purposes only, others include recreational use.
I don't agree with the government sticking their noses into things for the purpose of collecting taxes, fines, fees or penalties.
Although I understand the dangers of let's say smoking while driving, because it impedes your ability to think quickly.
I would say that marijuana use should be for mature and responsible adults that take precautions and considerations.

I quit smoking marijuana when I married my 2nd husband in 2005. His trucking job required him to not have any traces of (iforget the letters)
on his hair or in his blood/urine tests. And some claimed even being in the vacinity of one who smoked, could jeopardize their ability to hold a CDL Licence. And so I stopped.
I'm not sure what the advantages are for recreational use, unless one is trying to escape the present reality.
Personally I get beyond paranoid. I won't open the door, answer the phone, go outside.. I hide.
So why bother?
Like I said, I smoked because it helped me sleep.
Seeing I don't sleep anymore.. (LOL) or hardly sleep, I don't find a need for it.

As far as menthol cigarettes go, they will have to tear them from my cold dead hands.
I don't want to quit. And if your mind don't want something, it won't happen, unless by force.
I don't smoke around people. My dad don't smoke, so when he comes over I smoke outside.
I don't like driving and smoking because they put these stop points in the paper so either the head falls off or you have to keep lighting it.
Which makes it dangerous while driving. I know, I have a couple shirts and pants with burn holes to prove it, and car seats too.

Whatever your going to do, do it responsibly. Understand how it effects you. Does it have the potential to hurt other's?
I'm not perfect. I still got a lot of baggage. But over time the Lord is removing them one by one as he finds me able.
And I understand it's a two way street and I also have to be willing.
Some things I'm just not ready to let go of. And so far, menthol even in cigarette form, seems to be helping prevent some ailments, while possibly other unseen are taking place.
I understand the seriousness of smoking. I been smoking for 46 years. I started when I was 10.
Everytime I try to quit I have really bad reactions. Internal and external.
So to keep peace with others and myself, because I am anything but peaceful without them,
I half heartedly pray that one day the Lord will help me get rid of them.
And it will probably be from my cold dead hands.

FYI people are using hemp cigarettes, that have no psychoactive effects, to quit smoking tobacco cigarettes.

I don't know what there is or isn't on the markets nowadays.
I know I go the grocery store and they keep changing inventory and it gets frustrating, because I like what I like, and they keep ...
I buy loose leaf tobacco and the sleeves/filter tubes. I don't have a machine to fill them, so I fill each cigarette by hand.
I've gone from 3 packs to less than one pack a day, simply because it's not as convienent as grabbing one fully loaded from a pack. lol
Occasionally I will buy a pack of cigarettes and within 4-6 hours it's gone.

I'm not fond of stuffing loose tobacco in a round paper with the size of a pen as an opening. But it sure slows down the convienence.
I can't afford to buy pre-made cigarrettes anymore. I never heard of hemp cigarettes, that's interesting.
I've tried pills, patches, cold turkey, it all comes down to motivation and if you can convince your mind to do it.

Oh wow that sounds awful. I can't imagine being that addicted to something. I pray to our Lord that he can remove that addiction from you. I can see the hemp cigarettes working as they have a calming effect and you are actually smoking something so that helps that part of it.

@Ziggy Sounds like you are really thoroughly accustomed to them by now; smooth menthols, etc., part of your routine. So was it menthols that you even started with (in the dim and distant past)?
