None of us have ever said to look to calvin as an apostle. And we would agree that calvin was a reformer and a man dedicated to serving God. All good traits.

Bro, it's not "flaky" when you realize the theology you've held for years is both wrong and harmful. It's more like "repentance".

Right now it's me I'm mad at. It may have been a mistake for me to circle back to this one after @BarnyFife and @stunnedbygrace worked so hard to get @Johann to lower his defenses.

About two years and that doctrine came in surreptitiously so I do not know everything re Calvinism yet at the same time I am not against it either.
The only truth to be found is in the Scriptures and not in fallible vessels of clay.

It IS wrong, and I have found the Calvinist understanding of Election to be harmful. Among other things, it can make belief in your own election to be the ultimate object of faith, rather than trust in Christ, trust in God's love and grace. When the idol of election fails (as all idols must), there is nothing left to fall back on but hopelessness and despair.

Anticipating the objection that no true Calvinist places his trust in his election rather than Christ, I would agree whole-heartedly. The good folks at the Calvinist ministry I supported before God healed me were good counter-examples.

The peacemakers are blessed by God. How? Well, He has purged them of some of their arrogance, defensiveness and need to prove they are right at all costs.
