And the LORD shall utterly destroy the
tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. Isaiah 11:15-16
I Am not seeing the Euphrates in this passage? Never mind, you must have the NIV or NASB/ ESV which footnote the river as the Euphrates.
At any if you turn a big river like the Euphrates into seven streams it will be easy to pass over is how I view this, so it is kind of like it has dried up.
The "tongue of the Egyptian sea" is an interesting Phrase. It could refer to the Egyptian split of the red sea in the north on which the Suez Canal is located?
Oh…I see. I was quoting from NLT:
15 The Lord will make a dry path through the gulf of the Red Sea.
He will wave his hand over the Euphrates River,
sending a mighty wind to divide it into seven streams
so it can easily be crossed on foot.
16 He will make a highway for the remnant of his people,
the remnant coming from Assyria,
just as he did for Israel long ago
when they returned from Egypt.
I wonder what made them say Euphrates. And I wonder, if it should just say river, why a sea is being called a river…
