Being a Christian to me is that I will be with Jesus when my life is over.

There is enough proof that Jesus was born in a winter month. The planets themselves testify to it. The star of Bethlehem would be an evening star in the winter and a morning star in the spring time. When the start reappeared the Wiseman know from the prophecies approximately where to look for the King of Kings. The King who had been born at the first sighting of the star.

Can one celebrate and study at the same time?
The way I celebrate Christmas is a study of the bible. Studying the prophecies and the fact of the birth. The earthly Christmas celebration does tend to be a distraction but it is also an opportunity. Not because we are celebrating the birth but because we celebrate sharing knowledge of the birth.

This can be debated to death but for many many people their first true knowledge of the bible comes from the celebration of a holiday. The door that is opened in these celebration holidays is door that may never shut.

To me denying the holiday is a method to control or channel thought! Thoughts that may challenge the status quo of the gathering.

That is why by using the the Bible that the JWs claim to stand on taken from their hand, so it is their bible not my bible has sent them almost screaming from my door. I challenged the most basic tenement of their faith, that they are following the Bible! Yet that tenement didn’t stand a test of the bible.

So I will conclude that the JW doesn't allow holidays because those that use those holidays to closely study a section of belief are dealing with knowledge that the Watchtower has to keep hidden. One can throw a broad net and be anything but when one sorts through what the net caught? There are as many meaningful explanations as there are fish caught. Well those explanations let the net hold?

Again from the rapid exit from one gateway I have to answer NO!

The young JW couple that used to visit me got in trouble for accepting literature that I gave them and next time they called an 'elder' came with them. I had got quite close to them, they were lovely people but weren't allowed to learn the truth. I still pray for them and hope that the time they spent with me bore fruit.

I can show you an address that JWs have not approached in 25 years or so.

The reason being is that the Christians that live there would listen quietly to the JW at the door then meekly ask to use the JW's Bible and open it to scriptures that directly contradict what the Watch Tower being used was saying.

Without a harsh word or argument the JWs took flight rapidly.
Well, I'd like to hear the other side of that story......might be very different to the tale you tell in what is clearly a very bigoted attitude towards those who dare to tell you something you don't want to hear.

Please provide anything in the Bible that is contrary to what JW's teach.....please....I'd really like to hear it. Let's tell the other side of that story.

When was the last time you called on your neighbors to tell them the good news of the Kingdom?......you know, the 'great commission' that all of Jesus' disciples were commanded to do, carrying on the work that the Lord Jesus started? He said he would be 'with them' right up until the end, (Matthew 28:19-20).....its coming you see.....just when is indicated by world events, so that we would know when it was close. (Matthew 24:3-14) God has always kept the 'coming of the Kingdom', imminent in the minds of Christ's disciples...
"And he said to me, “These words are faithful and true”; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show His bond-servants the things which must soon take place.
7 “And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
(Revelation 22:6-7 NASB)

How soon is "soon"...how quickly is "quickly" to an eternal being? Those words are almost 2,000 years old.
How demoralizing to experience the difficulties of this life, only to be told that relief was thousands of years into the future. This way, no one has to wait longer than their own lifetime to see the Kingdom "come" and God's will "done on earth as it is in heaven". I prayed that prayer every week in church without ever knowing what I was praying for.
What are you praying for?

The last visit was while the JWs were preaching they knew when the end of the world, Jesus's triumphant return was going to be.
I was the culprit in that I took the Bible from JW and opened it to the passage in Mathew were Jesus is telling the disciples, "No man not even the angels in heaven KNOW the day or the hour of my return." I tried to get more into the bible but the JW burned out of the neighborhood so fast it was scary.
You really crack me up....
lol

Did you know that when Jesus' disciples encountered people like yourself, they were instructed to "shake the dust off their feet" and move on to the next house.....at least we follow the instruction that Jesus gave and take the message out to the people.... (Matthew 10:11-14)....do you?

Who did Jesus and his disciples preach to? It was to those who purported to worship the same God, using the same scriptures, but whose beliefs were twisted all out of shape by corrupt leadership down through time. Are you a victim?

Jesus said that "weeds" of false Christianity would be sown by the devil, so who can you trust to not teach the counterfeit.....its the only "Christianity" that people have ever known for centuries.....wasn't it the same when Jesus walked the earth? Were the religious leaders teaching God's truth or just their own version of it, tainted with human traditions? (Matthew 15:7-9) Paul stated that the foretold 'lawlessness' of apostasy was "already at work" in the first century...its had a long time to simmer.....or should I say....fester?
omg

So if a Jehovah's Witness is a child of God? Why does the Bible used the way I was taught to read it offend them?
More than likely because 'the way you were taught' was the way I was taught, but I got to a stage in my life when I was more interested in the truth than in what religion taught, but never practiced. Jesus said we would "know the truth and the truth would set us free"....I really had no idea what that meant until I learned the truth as opposed to the lies I was taught growing up...the liberation was life changing!

.....do you honestly think that JW's have no idea what the churches teach? A large percentage of us were former church members and this kind of thing just makes us laugh.....we know exactly what you believe because many of us were raised to believe it too. We put it all under the microscope and discovered that it was riddled with spiritual "leaven" just as in the days of the Pharisees. (Luke 12:1)
History is repeating because no one sees the parallel. Christendom is the mirror image of ancient Judaism...corrupted in exactly the same way. (Matthew 15:7-9)

The more graciously a Christian deals with JWs, the less a Christian sees them. When a Christian has the quiet competence to listen to the presentation and just quietly open the prop Bible and turn the presentation on its head. That is difficult to accept.

And obstinate wall, that shows no knowledge, a winnable challange.

In choosing to go with quiet competence the home the neighborhood became a loosing proposition to witness to.

As others have said giving a little bit of a glance of the other faiths especially if that brings questions back the HALL has gotten JWs in trouble.

Neither biased or attacking just what happens

That is your interpretation but certainly not my experience.....and I have been a JW for 50 years.

I was wondering if you yourself fit that description...?

Not so...because you may not understand the two-fold purpose of our witness.....
Matthew 24:14...
"This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come."

If you remember back to the days of Noah, we see that Jesus made a correlation between the two time periods. Peter tells us that Noah was "a preacher of righteousness", yet he was the only one who escaped with his life along with his family members. How were the people judged in those days? It was by seeing Noah's actions, and hearing the message that he preached. The two-fold message was clear.....a catastrophic end to the world of that time was coming, and God Gave Noah a commission which he fulfilled to the letter.
When Jesus said....
"For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be."
Again there is a message....good news for some...bad news for others.
That is why we preach....to give no one an opportunity to plead ignorance.....all will remember the knock on their door....and lament the fact that they stumbled at the messenger, and ignored them (Matthew 15:18-21)....just as they did in Noah's day....and as the majority of Jews responded in Jesus' day. History repeats......and we can see why....because human nature does not alter.

As others have said giving a little bit of a glance of the other faiths especially if that brings questions back the HALL has gotten JWs in trouble.
What a load of old cods.....I invite you to please provide some back up for your assertions that we have no knowledge of "other faiths".....a good many of us have been in "other faiths"...some for many years.
Please provide your scriptural backing for the times when you opened the JW Bible and had them running for cover......and if you back off we will all know that your assertions are just are a lot of hot air.

That is your version at least....I am sure the other side of your story is very different.

I will be checking to see if Alfred opens any Bible on any subject. Will Aunty Jane run and hide? Will you be overwhelmed and silenced by his use of the Bible. I can hardly wait. Maybe Pearl will join in.

Which of my questions are "ignorant"?

Do you believe JW's will rule the world?
Are JW's gods?
Are you equal with Jesus?
Are you a god?
Please elaborate.

Why do simple questions offend JW's? Just answer my simple questions instead of attacking me.
She already ANSWERED these questions in post #24. We aren't to attack peoples faiths on here as it causes nothing but disunity and hard feelings. I am not a JW but do respect them.
