Hi, Its been on my heart to ask some Questions here.....

1. If the Holy Spirit is still in someone, Does that mean there is still a chance to be saved?? (As long as the Holy Spirit is still in someone)

2. What exactly Does the Holy Spirit do and how do we know we Have him?? (Does It have to do with a good consience?)

3...If Someone Feels rejected by God and feels absolutely hopeless, Is there still a chance to be saved If they are hopeless and still repent?

Thanks in advance!

There are two very different schools of thought with which to approach your questions. First there is the notion that a person can lose their salvation, and hence, lost the Holy Spirit's indwelling in their lives. Second is the idea of "Once Saved Always Saved" or the principle of Eternal Assurance. I will try to provide both viewpoints in attacking your questions.

1. If the Holy Spirit is still in someone, Does that mean there is still a chance to be saved?? (As long as the Holy Spirit is still in someone)

I am going to assume (for all of these questions) that you are speaking of someone who at one time professed faith in Christ Jesus and has since fallen away from that faith (lost their salvation). Your first question is a kind of mixture of both camps. Essentially, it appears as if to state someone can be unsaved yet still possess the Holy Spirit within them. Both schools of thought would exclude this possibility. Those who believe salvation can be forfeited because of willful sin the Holy Spirit would be essentially "kicked out" of their lives. For those who hold to Eternal Security if the Holy Spirit is still present then salvation is already achieved and can not be nullified.

So, since the question, as phrased, is an impossibility in both systems the answer must be in the negative.

2. What exactly Does the Holy Spirit do and how do we know we Have him?? (Does It have to do with a good consience?)

A very good question and one that every believer wrestles with today and in Biblical times. In the Old Testament David often lamented at the distance He felt God was from him, and even implored the Lord not take His Spirit from him. In New Testament times Paul would earnestly pray for his malady to be removed from him (his "thorn in the flesh") and was met with silence and even rebuke from the Lord.

Today the Holy Spirit fulfills within the believer the office Christ pointed towards. The Holy Spirit first convicts us (that is, convinces us) of our sin, our separation from God that sin causes, and leads us to repentance. Second, the Holy Spirit will enlighten our minds of the Truth of God's Word and open us to the Spiritual world that heretofore was hidden from the carnal mind. The Holy Spirit will also pray on our behalf when we are so grieved by our situation or state we are unable to form words adequately up to the task. He will also comfort us when our own strength and endurance for pain or grief or stamina are at a physical end.

3.If Someone Feels rejected by God and feels absolutely hopeless, Is there still a chance to be saved If they are hopeless and still repent?

That rejected feeling is often times the Holy Spirit acting on our hearts! Something may have gone amiss in our walk with God, be it our prayer lives, our obedience to His Word (Jesus), even sin that has crept back into our thoughts or deeds. If that is the case, we haven't lost salvation but we have lost communion with the Lord. That is, our closeness with Him, through the person and work of the Holy Spirit, is strained. Rather than seek to be resaved, a restoration of the relationship may be all that's needed to sooth a troubled spirit.

Hope this helps answer the questions a bit.

Andy has given you a good answer, I just want to add...

1. Don't think like that. If someone is ALIVE there is HOPE for them. They have obviously NOT crossed the line of being beyond hope.
2. Romans 1:20, everyone is without excuse even without the Holy Spirit. God reached out to everyone in the OT and the NT. In the NT as Christians we can have the gift / ''physical presence'' of the Holy Spirit. We received the fullness of the deity when we are saved (Col 2:9,10). When we receive the ''gift'' of the Holy Spirit. It is like our mother in law coming to literally stay with us. She became my mother in law when I got married, but now she is in my house offering to clean up, encourage me etc. I can kick her out, but she will still be my mother in law, able to return, unless I divorce (explained below). Perhaps mother in law is wrong relative to use in this example <_<.
3. Answered in 1. If there was no hope for us, God would remove His protection from us and we would be dead. It is a simple as that.

Remember to think of our free will forerunners 'the angels' as an example. They made one decision to rebel and it got them kicked out of God's presence immediately for eternity. As spirits in the flesh our ''yes'' to rebel is not as clear as in the spirit. That is why God gives us time on earth. My logic tells me that if you see people continuing in 'extreme rebellion / sin' you really need to worry (saved or unsaved). They will reach that depth of inner rebellion required for hell quickly.

Hi Inmate,

Just to add to what has already been said.

1. Holy Spirit will be here forever.

Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

2. What exactly does the Holy Spirit do?

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Eph 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost

Allow me to add to the above and use my own experience about knowing I had received. When I asked Jesus to forgive me and also save me, there came a presence of God that was like a small electrical charge that started at the top of my head and went all the way down and through my feet and I knew it was the Holy Ghost. How God shows you will probably be different, but you can and will know.

When one feels lonely and rejected, that is the perfect time, in many cases, to call upon Jesus.

I urge you to find a quite place and do pray on these things.

1. Jesus I want to forgive all those that have hurt me. (name as many as you can by name) God says that he can not forgive us unless we forgive others.

2. Lord, I repent of my sins and ask your forgiveness. (means that you are willing to turn away from the sins you are aware of) God says all must come to repentance.

3. Help me to do these things I have mentioned above, in Jesus name I pray.

4. Find a church and allow the Christians there to help you in your walk with God.

1. If the Holy Spirit is still in someone, Does that mean there is still a chance to be saved?? (As long as the Holy Spirit is still in someone).

according to scripture romans 10:9-10 tell us if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.

your question seems to imply to me like someone who was saved has gone back to being carnal. just because a christian has become carnal does not mean they are unsaved. if they believe what rom 10:9-10 say then the answer to your question is yes they are saved.

2. What exactly Does the Holy Spirit do and how do we know we Have him?? (Does It have to do with a good consience?)

the Holy Spirit's job is to show people where they are off in their life and show them that there is a better way. how do we know we have him is a tougher question to answer. but in my experience the more radical the change the easier it is to tell. the reason behind this depends upon how hot for God they are. i have seen radical people who were hot for God start to cool off and then started to doubt their encounter with God and in a short matter of time they even doubted that anything really happened to them when they were saved.

3...If Someone Feels rejected by God and feels absolutely hopeless, Is there still a chance to be saved If they are hopeless and still repent?

are they still being convicted of their wrong doings? if a person is still being convicted there is always hope. when a person is no longer feeling convicted then that is the time to worry because they have hardened their hearts against God so much that they can no longer hear the Spirit and it is the father who calls us and it is the Spirit which convicts us of our wrong doing so that we see where we are off and thus leads us to being saved by Jesus.

be blessed

The indwelling Holy Spirit cannot be driven off by evil spirits, nor will He ever leave a person, but that does not mean the Holy Spirit will stay if you do not want Him around. You still have free will and are in control.

>2. What exactly Does the Holy Spirit do and how do we know we Have him?? (Does It have to do with a good consience?)
The Holy Spirit does what you cannot do, he fights against other wicked Spiritual beings, really works through you to be Christ here on earth through you. What he does not do is what you do not want Him to do (you still have free will). That means any good work you want done He can do through you by you just allowing Him the freedom to work. You know He is with you because all the things you wanted to do and could not do, can now be done perfectly. There were sins in my life I just could not keep from doing, but with the Spirit partnering with me, these sins are not a problem, so I know He is with me.

Reaching the very bottom tends to bring people to their senses. The prodigal son could have come to his senses and not gone home (having too much pride (false pride) to take the ridicule of his family).

1. The Holy Spirit is ONLY given to believers in Christ Jesus alone! So if they have the Holy Spirit then they are saved! For we are sealed unto the day of redemption! "You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." (Romans 8:9)
2. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and leads into all truth(John 14:7). We know that we have the Holy Spirit because we are saved and we feel His presence in our changed heart and actions, through the preaching of the gospel, the simple fact that we are saved is a work of the Holy Spirit and the gifts given by the Holy Spirit (initial evidence of speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance Acts 2:4) and most of all HOLINESS in our lives is the work of the Holy Spirit and is the most important work (Hebrews 12:14). "Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." (Galatians 4:6)
3. Repentance is a change in the mindset, heart and will of a person. If they are saved then even if they feel helpless they are still saved! We must understand though that God has not given us a spirit of fear, depression, apprehension but of love, joy, power and a sound, alert mind! (2 Timothy 1:7)
"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song." (Psalm 28:7)
"But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head." (Psalm 3:3)
