I feel like God wants me to kind of be there for someone right now. I have slight social anxiety.
For some reason when it's important, my brain decides doesn't work and I can't figure out what to say. Then I'm just awkward.
But I really need that to go and so please pray God will give me the wisdom to say the right words and take off this social anxiety, so I can be a better support.
Thank you
I can empathize-since I live a very reclusive lifestyle.
Trust in God's Presence and Sovereignty
Psalm 56:3-4:
"Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?"
This passage emphasizes reliance on God's strength and the assurance that He is greater than human fears.
Isaiah 41:10:
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
Relying on the Holy Spirit for Boldness
2 Timothy 1:7:
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
Social anxiety often arises from internal fears, but this verse encourages believers to rely on the Spirit's power, love, and self-control to overcome them.
Acts 4:31: When the early Christians faced opposition and fear, they prayed, and "they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness." Prayer can invite courage in challenging social settings.
Focus on Loving Others
1 John 4:18:
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment."
This encourages shifting focus from self-consciousness to expressing God's love toward others, alleviating fear.
Philippians 2:3-4
: "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others."
Encouragement through Fellowship
Hebrews 10:24-25:
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another."
Engaging in community, even in small steps, can help build confidence and reduce feelings of isolation.
Examples of Biblical Figures Overcoming Fear
Moses (Exodus 4:10-12): Moses expressed fear about speaking, but God reassured him, saying,
"Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say."
Gideon (Judges 6:11-16): Though initially timid and hesitant, Gideon was reassured by God’s presence, enabling him to fulfill his calling.
Practical Steps Rooted in Scripture
Prayer and Meditation (Philippians 4:6-7)
: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Renewing the Mind (Romans 12:2):
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Focus on biblical truths to replace anxious thoughts.
These scriptures collectively provide assurance of God’s presence, practical guidance for overcoming fear, and encouragement to cultivate courage and love.
