I think there may be a time when the really radical, avant-garde choice could be seen as being completely inkless! :)

A lot of Christians do seem to take into account that faith based tattoo designs are highly effective in bringing about witness conversations, and act accordingly, anyway.

Meanwhile, it seems to be almost standard at 18 onwards to go for the first ink; and faith based designs are very popular also.

Interesting the collective following mindset at the present time, I wasn't ever that type even when I was 18. I always had an innate suspicion & repulsion towards control & oppression even by peer group.

I take your point; if everyone else at 18 got tattooed - even & especially the young women, it seems now - then for some ppl this would be a great reason not to be. Yes; I take your point! (I guess you would readily understand also how in theory it could work the other way; to be the only person with a tattoo, faith based or otherwise? )

PS: There are at least 2 types of people; for one type of person it's an ordeal; and the pain is a reason not to do it again - or even at all. For the other type of person it really feels good to do.

(No doubt anyway about the category to which you willingly belong, right? :))

I would have a hard job attributing to that source a Bible verse which effects witness conversations, though...

PS: My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse, and mine also, and I'm sure other conversations have also come about as a result of her willingness for the needle to inject in such a design. Whatever one thinks, it seems to be a very effective conversation-starter, anyway.

Doesn't invalidate it. Look at what evil has defiled - just anything that God originally created beautifully & to glorify Him. Creation, marriage, child parenthood, sex between man & woman, human body, motherhood, male, female, pregnancy, spirituality, worship, etc , etc, etc....

I would be concerned about someone who was doing it to "feel good" because when does it stop? Some have described being "addicted" to getting tattoos (and their extensive tattooing give witness to it). I would be especially concerned about Christians who are caught up in getting one tattoo after another. Is it similar to "cutting" then? Because it is painful, one wonders about someone who would painfully deface their body in order to "feel good." l used to counsel a young Christian woman who described her "cutting" as making her "feel good". She had an extensive background of being abused during her childhood and when the tensions and depressions that resulted from those experiences would mount up in her mind, she would cut herself and claimed it made her "feel good" about herself. I wonder just how many women who describe themselves as being "addicted to inking" are in the same category.

I think the young lady that my wife and I talked to (see previous post) would come into the "use it well" rather than the "feel good" category...

Oh I take your point. Would you however deny that any blessing can result simply because the Bible verse is with ink on skin rather than ink on paper?

There is no need to needle that on your wrist to invoke conversation. I see no examples in scriptures of doing what the egyptians did for eg in order to invoke curriousity or conversations about Jesus by the disciples in order to take the message of the gospel to the Jews or gentiles.

Some would see it as one means among many to seek to fulfill the Great Commission in this Gospel Age; the Egyptians weren't part of this at all...

No scriptural basis for that whatsoever.
It is solely being in step with the present pop culture.
If it wasn't the "in" thing to do , no Christians would be inking scripture on their bodies. The inspiration to ink themselves has nothing to do with evangelizing but everything to do with following the popular trend.

I guess, though, the question is still relevant about whether you would deny that any blessing can result simply because the Bible verse is with ink on skin rather than ink on paper?

I know there are many who do not think tattoos are right, but I still believe it is the motive behind the tattoo that determines that. I have a clear conscience and have never regretted getting it done.
God knows my heart and why I chose to have it done.

I don't agree completely- tattooing has been part of culture for many generations , it's not a new trend , it's an old one
I think what change is perhaps the stigma within Christian circles !
