Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

When you have been around for a while on this forum, it irks many to be hounded by a touter to vote in the polls he has set up on the forum, particularly when they are asking nearly the same question to vote on as all of his previous polls around the same subject matter.

The sample size of the polling suggests that many members are not that interested in being involved in the polls he has created on tattooing and ear piercing for jewellery etc. . Members avoid his polls like the plague.

He has become an irritant to many members and that does not help to bless the other members of this forum.

While I agree that the many sometimes very repetitive polls have gotten old also for me I generally avoid most of them. They may not be as tiring as the very many threads these days on election fraud and Covid 19. If only there was as much interest in the prayer threads and the real discussions about God and the things of God.

This is so true. The level of expressed radical and fanatical views has been overwhelming with their explanations of what and how revealed Biblical Prophecies were played out in full view has taken this forum well away from its original purpose to hide God and the things of God in the voluminous dribble posted over this year, from my perspective. The numerous polls on Tattooing is one such example of this clutter.

@Helen While @farouk is certainly up toward the top, the all time heaviest poster, @bbyrd009 , [way above even @Angelina ] who always was concerned and focused in places I like to see people focused is seemingly gone forever. This is unfortunate for in spite of his faults, he recognized his faults. But too many people failed to understand him. A permanent disconnection to me is the forum's loss.

Yes I have noticed that @bbyrd009 has faded away on the forum and I wonder if the events of this year has caught up with him and overpowered him. Perhaps those who had a personal connection with him outside of the confines of this forum may be able to shed some light on what has happened to him.

I have discovered there are two types of Christians... Those who bring hope and breath LIFE into our broken world... and then those who bring condemnation and breath DEATH into our broken world. I have been in the presence of both types... Those who bring forth condemnation/death through their judgement.... make others feel as though they are guilty and worthless... thus driving them AWAY from God rather than TO God.
Busybody Christian... ( that is the nickname I had for my self-righteous auntie ). However... the good news is... that I actually made amends with my family. I am now the redeemed black sheep of the herd... LOL

That may be true that he blesses you, and I agree that sometimes there maybe a "pearl" of wisdom in what he writes, but that "pearl," IMHO, is lost in the voluminous posts that he makes.

Several people did, but just discussing a former member removed got a couple of my posts deleted the last time I did it. For some people who did not understand him he was accused of not being a follower of Christ, a Christian. That was/is most certainly an error.

Oh my goodness... it took awhile... but I found it... When I first came across byrd... I did not much care for his style...and I told him so...
He told me I was NOT the arbitrator of his words. Fair enough... a short time later... I created a post... and the beloved byrd decided to leave a very vulgar comment.... and so I confronted him with a bit of humour.... the below is what I said to him.... and under that was his reply back to me.

Adoration.... you are NOT the arbitrator of my words.... OH how those words are still ringing from the last time you and I tango'd ....
PLEASE at least on MY THREADS... try to refrain from nasty comments .... I will share my cookies with you.

I still remember how much I laughed... HE had quoted a bible verse and I thought he was simply being vulgar... His little response to me was so humorously gracious... LOL Thank you @amadeus... you brought forth a very funny memory.

Glad to please! I am really hoping that they will open the door to him here again soon. Unfortunately sometimes his words really were very pointed, rude and as you say, vulgar. Sometimes people did not even know they really were being insulted or other thought they were being insulted when they really were not.

While I have reported people once in a great while, I do try to avoid doing that. I have never put anyone on ignore using the forum's software for that, but I do purposely avoid some people and some topics.

I guess the best focus on this topic is how some Christians evidently want to communicate their faith message and testimony by means of their ink; I've mention how my wife and I talked to a young lady who had the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; and because this was my favorite Bible text and hers it led to a conversation. I also talked to a young man who had the same text in full tattooed on his arm. For both of them, it must have involved them some considerable time and effort and conviction to receive the inking of all that wording and lettering in full.

It's not for everyone, I know.

@Adoration My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and I'm sure other conversations have arisen because of her willingness to become tattooed in this way.

Decades back getting tattooed was almost always a man thing to do, but it's become very much a woman's thing to do now also.

I have talked with him about it. He was being careful after being suspended not long before. He has not idea what it was and received no notice of warning or explanation. We must careful here discussing this on the open forum lest we suffer needlessly.

FYI:

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

@Gideons300 Some do go over the top, yes. Not everyone, of course. It would seem that, typically, serious young men that are Bible students or Christian homeschooling moms, etc., that are tattooed would maybe get one or two small ones in faith based designs that become subjects of faith conversations sometimes, but they wouldn't necessarily go over the top and get lots until they are almost covered; this would be more unusual for them, I think...

I think I told you about my wife's nurse? The scriptures on the inside of her forearms, looked nice and did start a conversation.

@soul man I guess you guys were just glad she had indeed had the confidence to have the Scripture inking done that would effectively start such a conversation.

There are various ideas and views about it.
