Okay. Definitely not my photo, but Australia fauna is an extremely fascinating topic, and I couldn't bypass this without sharing...a true millipede...1306 legs in fact... A world record... Discovered in western Australia in 2020.received_958091721781580.jpeg

The flora and fauna of Australia seems to be so unique and diverse - sometimes unlike anywhere else in the world.

....linked also metaphorically with subterranean rumblings in Canberra and LBJ's foreign policy, no doubt....
A long long time before I got here, and we'll before I had any interest in the nefarious goings on in Australian politics. Although my best guess is that it hasn't changed much since then. Victoria especially. Even though I wasn't living here, the rumors of corruption, bribery, and murder did reach across the ditch to the fair and harmonious shores of NZ, particularly I the 70s.

what is that thing?

It's called a Galileo thermometer. Quote from Mrs wiki...A Galileo thermometer (or Galilean thermometer) is a thermometer made of a sealed glass cylinder containing a clear liquid and several glass vessels of varying density. The individual floats rise or fall in proportion to their respective density and the density of the surrounding liquid as the temperature changes. It is named after Galileo Galilei because he discovered the principle on which this thermometer is based—that the density of a liquid changes in proportion to its temperature.

I don't know why, but we have 3 of them. They're interesting, accurate, pretty, and a talking point. Hence our present conversation.:)

Well, Robert Muldoon, was, if certainly not corrupt, certainly not a shrinking violet either.....
