And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
This passage was brought to mind this morning as I was praying and meditating about all the extreme weather conditions and natural disasters the world is experiencing.
And apart from those natural occurrences there is also so much evil and unrighteousness in the world, from corrupt police and politicians to inadequate parenting and guiding of our young people.
But in spite of those things, God's word tells us not to dwell on them but to see the good and the worthy, the kindness and beauty. It is so easy to be negative about the world we live in but I believe that God wants to to concentrate on the positive aspects of life that will build us up instead of causing us to fret and worry.
