Does your church do this?

When I came to Christ at age 13, our church held a service on New Year's Eve called a "watch night service." Preachers and evangelists would tag team ...preach half an hour or so, then the next, and the next ....singing/worship in between messages. The service would start around 7pm, and go until about 10pm, then break for fellowship and refreshments, then go again until about 12:30 or 1am.

Have you ever attended a service like this? If so, was it called a "watch night" service?
Just curious.

No ma'am. I have been in and out of many different churches and have had many different experiences within them each. I don't go to church anymore. Which seems to be a case for many people. I wish I could find a actual bible teaching church, but it seems those types are extremely rare. The last one, I went to had a little study pamplet which was cool, but that is not the type of church I am looking for. I guess I would want there to a be a person there at the center of the room, and starting from chapter 1, of say any book, and go verse by verse. There are some chapters that could be done in a general overview because of how long it would take to get through but perhaps read it once, explain, move forward the next ones and explain. That would be the place I would be really happy with, a little music but not the whole service, etc... but that is my hyper-critism in me.

The place I do go to a lot did a bible study today, concerning the Psalms.
It is about an hour long.

You need to look for a church where the pastor does Expository Preaching....verse by verse.

As for New Year's services, no never got to one. Would do some Christmas Eve candlelight services with carols and sometimes Handel's Messiah.
