Mom is on hospice care now.
The agency sent a caregiver to help me for three hours a day, five days a week.

So pleased you are getting help,Debp, thoughts are very much with you both.
Well, mom was always a believer in the Lord and prayed.
In our younger years we often went sightseeing around Los Angeles and went out to eat for some activity.
It's been 17 days now that mom hasn't been able to eat anything.
Because she lost weight, now even her dentures don't fit.
Late last night she asked to eat....and also just a little while ago. I tried giving her a small portion of cottage cheese mashed up and a little yogurt.
She couldn't eat any of it. She's just sipping some tea. Funny thing, she took 17 days to ask for food and it's too late now....I don't know how long she can survive now.
The caregiver comes later today for three hours...will be here Monday through Friday.
The hospice nurse comes again on Wednesday.
I do have peace, thank God.

No, it doesn't seem she has any pain...thank God.
I hope she will be quieter in the wee hours tonight. Last night she kept calling out gotta eat every second for some time. And she can't eat...I finally got some sleep at 7:00 am but then woke up at 8:30 am for a diaper change. Diarrhea again, yesterday and today.
It is blackish so I wonder if it has blood in it.
She wanted her dentures...she doesn't remember that they don't fit anymore because of her weight loss.
The caregiver was here. Mom slept most of the time the caregiver was here.
Just letting you all know Mom has passed on to be with Jesus tonight.
The owner of the home care agency who is a nurse came tonight. I'm waiting for her body to be picked up.
Thankfully, she had no pain at all. For older adults, please be careful about falling. That's what caused the terrible decline in mom.
She's had a good, long life...94 years old.

I’m happy to hear that she passed peacefully to be with the Lord.
You have my heartfelt condolences.
Very true about falling at our age, a huge shock to the system which can actually be far worse than the actual fracture/ break that one has sustained.

I am at peace. I was expecting this since mom just got worse and worse since not eating and barely drinking water.
The home care agency owner was/is a great help to me. And so was all of the staff. And the caregiver with the hospice was a great help. When she came yesterday, she thought mom was towards the end....and mom passed that evening.
Have things to handle...like notifying Social Security, stopping her tiny pension, etc. Will take it a step at a time.

I am starting to miss mom as of last night. Before I was so busy taking care of her that I guess I finally have slowed down to realize that.
Mom was always a kind person and she never complained. Even while she used a walker since 2022, and was apartment bound....not a word of complaint. And after this hip surgery March 5, 2024 and being bedridden....no complaints at all.
Just a kind, nice person.
Hold onto those good memories of her. I remember too well the passing of first my Father in 1992 and then my mother in 2006. Many others have passed away since then and now I am the oldest one in my family waiting on the Lord until my appointed time arrives.
