Just popped up in the Caribbean
TAMPA, Fla. – Less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene struck Florida’s Big Bend, Milton is threatening to do the same, but given the state’s distinctive coastline, the angle of landfall could allow the new storm system to be the worst in over 100 years for parts of West Central Florida.

Naples, Fort Myers and surrounding areas on the Gulf coast of Florida are in the forecast cone for Tropical Storm Milton which formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday and is expected to become Hurricane Milton on a track toward Florida by the middles of next week.

As of Sunday morning, the exact track and intensity at landfall remains very uncertain — ranging from Category 1 to Category 5 — and forecasters warned residents along the Gulf coast to have their hurricane survival plans in motion and to prepare for the worst.

A calculation of probabilities as to where it goes or you go or stay. Most of Florida is vulnerable. And anyone who goes should go ASAP, as the roads may become grid locked, Imagine riding out a hurricane in your car. as you are stuck in traffic.

I have had couple hurricanes around me and have stayed as once you go, they do not let you go home again sometimes.
Last Hurricane for us was Isabel in Virginia, and our house is in a safer area, no flooding, no hills to collapse. Our biggest risk in the area is collapsing trees

Hurricanes are totally unpredictable. Weather services cannot predict the track, only guess. I still remember when a hurricane was predicted to go up the coast of Florida but made a right turn and stopped right on top of Punta Gorda Florida and stayed there for a while.

Praying for all those impacted - I understand it’s the worst hurricane in 100years to hit the area.
It must be impossible for many to evacuate
I know Apak lives near the impact zone, are any other members directly impacted ?

Projected track is now slightly south of Tampa towards Ft Meyers, Sarasota-Bradenton, Sanibel and Captiva island.
In the late 60's when I was little, I remember Sarasota Bradenton beaches, they were marvelous places, the sands were full of tiny colorful living shells like the size of 1/4 to 1/2" long, and many different colors and it was a very friendly clean community. Recent past been several times to Sanibel Island for vacation. Very low lying, I think the 15 foot storm surge may cover all of it under the ocean.

This poor dog chained to a post near Tampa was rescued as hurricane Milton was coming.

I heard about the dog, pleased he has been rescued.
My son and I have been following ‘ captain dan ‘ we both thought he was mad to stay in his little boat, although I was kind of pulled with my opinions when he relayed that five years ago God laid it on his heart to go to Tampa and buy a boat.
I did Pray for him in the early hours of the morning here
Really delighted to hear that he survived - quite amazed as his boat is really little.
Whether he was wise , unwise, mad or quite sane, may the Lord use him I’m some way.

I would love to hear an update about how they actually got the dog into the police car. In another video, the dog was making sounds like he could have gotten defensive. Maybe eventually we will hear more when the dog is adopted.

This video has the sound.

This is another live broadcast. They are currently interviewing people in the shelter. The shelter has a multitude of pets in kennels, too, which is nice.
