I started a thread awhile back called:Iv improved on the forums...
Don't respond straight away while your heart is still full of indignation... Wait a day or two...
Don't take everyone so seriously, some are just here to troll...
Try to accept peoples differing opinions even if they seem crazy...
Sometimes, no matter how you write something, someone will get offended...
They're some of the rules I try to stick by but i still muck up on forums too
My problem is when I'm talking to people in the flesh. I can't just pause in a conversation to cool down... Just two days ago I told a cop to piss off... Stupid me...
I find that I have no control of my initial feelings... I can't stop myself feeling angry when I see something that makes me angry. That's why I'm trying to build a large fire hose to quench my heart when it starts to burn with indignation.
Before I speak and act I need to see if it's from a place of anger. Of it is then I need to check myself... Only when it's coming from love can I let myself off the chain...
When I was I prison I would often ask myself, what would Jesus do or say in this situation. And it worked every time in producing a tempered response...
Anyway, I like exchanging thoughts with you Addy... God Bless
Name that Tone
And I was wondering how different people "heard" the verses in the Bible.
Some you can interpret as angry, or concerned or sarcastic,
and everyone hears everthing differently.
It's the same in a forum. It's difficult sometimes to "hear" what the person posting or replying.
We tend to "hear" it the way we want to, but it may not be that way at all.
I've always been one to respond off the cuff.
But the more I tried to really listen or come right out and ask, what do you mean by that?
I don't get agitated or overly emotional anymore.
But it's taken a long time for me to learn to use this skill.
It's a gift, and it's just a matter of trying to be patient and learn to listen to the tone.
I hope this helps
:)
