That's what I was just reading in the Bible. However, is marriage defined as an actual ceremony, or when two people have intercourse?

It appears in the beginning it was having sex with your partner binding you in marriage, but overtime it become more ceremonial probably for money it also says that its best that one shouldn't marry but not many can accept that saying and also that even to look at a Women lustfully is Adultery so I can see why never marrying can actually be a good thing.
The Bible word sometimes translated fornication does not mean ‘sex before marriage.’

Under Old Testament law, casual sex was impossible. For an unmarried man to have sex with an unmarried woman was to make an even more binding commitment than normal marriage.

Just intercourse is *not* marriage. Obviously, prostitution happens. Adultery happens. And they are *not* marriage.
But when 2 people love each other and have sexual relations, it doesn't become marriage until they actually make vows with one another. It is in swearing the oath that makes the marriage--not the ceremony, and not the sex.
God hears the promise. And He holds people accountable for what they say to one another, for what they promise. This also holds true for contracts, covenants of various kinds, and treaties. We should do what we promise. God hears.

Right, and it is also a govt.-sanctioned institution. So when we live, as Christians, in a State with govt. determining what official marriage is, then we should, as witnesses to Christ, get married according to State law.
There are blurred areas in my country, the US, where no moral judgments are made, by the State, with respect to those who live together, apart from legal marriage. In my view, those who "shack up," but sincerely take vows, or suggest vows, are married before God. They have insinuated fidelity in the relationship. If there is no such insinuation, then it is simply perversion of a sort.

Marriage is the ceremony, and always has been. It's a public statement ensuring that everyone knows which man belongs to which woman (and vice versa). Lots of other stuff (religious, ceremonial, legal and emotional) has got added to it over the centuries, but that was the most fundamental point of it.
Sexual intercourse happens in other situations, of course, and always has done. The word "fornication" in the New Testament covers all forms of sex outside marriage.
Different cultures have different definitions of marriage. Moslem countries allow polygamy. Most Western countries allow gay marriage now. Christians define it as one man and one woman.

Corinthians 13 is read at most weddings for a reason. It explains and defines love.
And if you don't have love...then you don't have a marriage. It's not a warm fuzzy feeling but it can lead to those. It's not a biological desire. But those can be sated in a marriage.
And God has said "It is not good for man to be alone"
But I do understand that today people are so self absorbed and closed off that they refuse to share their lives with anyone. They aren't so busy with a deadline for spreading the gospel message, under constant persecution, followed by martyrdom that they really shouldn't get married. (Paul remained unmarried...he wasn't unloved or undesired... Lydia was besotted over him.
Rumor has it so was Phoebe...)
So... explain how a bundle of three cords is easily broken?

Since the Bible does not require a wedding ceremony. That is both Old and New Testament that does not require a wedding ceremony to form a marriage...so the answer is obvious.
The first documented Christian wedding was eight centuries after the biblical era.
The Protestants were the first to require a wedding ceremony...mid 1500's
We know very little about the wedding in Cana. No procedure or process. The bible does not say who was getting married. All we know is that Christ and His mother and some of His Apostles were there and wine was a priority. But still no designation of a requirement for a wedding ceremony.
God has powers over the body and can join a man and a woman as one flesh. For this you will need a covenant marriage ceremony directed by clergy of the Church. Just like baptism, the sacrament and other ordinances of the Church, marriage is performed by clergy.

This is how God said to form a marriage.
Again, no biblical requirement for wedding ceremony, anywhere in the Bible.
The Catholic Church made marriage a sacrament in the 12th century and Protestants made weddings a requirement in the 16th century.
God taught Christians many things after the close of the Bible...slavery was bad...polygamy was bad...women being kept down as second rate citizens in society and the church was bad...And weddings are wonderful and the right thing to do...but weddings are a custom. In most states if you do not consummate your marriage, you can get your marriage annulled.
How many ways are weddings good? That is a good topic.
What, there are tons of bible verses that talk "wife" and "marriage". For instance:
1 Corinthians 7:9
“But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.”
the vows must be made before witnesses and God’s authorized minister
don’t like the state being involved with out the influence of holy church
the state requires holy religion to be moral and just
and if the state grants marriage it also grants divorce and that’s immoral and unjust

Children outside of marriage is NOT acceptable according to scripture I agree with you what I/m saying is if your not married you stay single you DONT start a family outside of wedlock. (not a easy task )
If no one married, there would be no children, or else a whole lot more fornication and children outside of wedlock.
