I know you believe your gospel is one. But there is truly one gospel, 1Corinthians 15:1-4; Mark 16:15-16. Jesus gospel never says you are saved by anything alone. I understand that you are teaching two gospels. I know you dont see it that way. Your theories contradict themselves.
Look friend. This is actually real simple to figure out. Circumcision (OT) is likened to baptism (NT), right? If you read Acts 15:1, Acts 15:5, and Acts 15:24, you would learn that circumcision so as to be initially saved was condemned.
In the beginning of Romans 4, Paul talks about Abraham and David in relation to the person who works not, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, and that his/her faith is counted to them as righteousness.
Then the chapter talks about Abraham’s circumcision and uncircumcision in relation to WHEN his faith was accounted as to him as righteousness.
Was it is circumcision or uncircumcision?
Romans 4:9-10 KJV says:
“Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.”
It was in uncircumcision.
Genesis 15:6 is this event where Abraham believed God and it was accredited to him as righteousness. This is when Abraham believed the promise of God. He did no works in this event. Yes, Abraham did other things in the faith prior like leaving his home, but the example of our faith in being saved initially is this event of Abraham believing God in regards to the promise. Romans 3-5 makes it clear Paul is concerned here about how we first get saved (which lines up with Ephesians 2 and Titus 3 in regards to being saved by God’s grace initially without works).
Anyways, my point here is that in Romans 4: Paul relates works in this discussion with his talking about circumcision. Circumcision is a work even in the time of Abraham because of the discussion Paul gave. So this means baptism is a work (because it is like the circumcision of the Old Testament). Ephesians 2:8-9 says we are saved by God’s grace without works. Romans 10:13 says whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Cornelius was saved by receiving the Spirit before being baptized. This is a part of salvation.
Let God’s grace shine!
