Ananias told Paul to go and be baptized, washing away his sins, calling on the name of the Lord, as the confession of his faith.

Paul was saved on the road to Damascus when He said, Lord, what will you have me do.

He was water baptized 3 days later, publicly confessing the name of the Lord, the baptism was the symbol of his sins being washed away, that proved he had accepted Christ as his Saviour.
Wrong, Paul was water baptized three days later. That is when Ananias said to wash away thy sins.

Yes, I said Paul was baptized 3 days later after he was saved by surrendering to and believing in Christ on the road to Damascus.

Now he will be water baptized publicly confessing Christ as his Saviour. The water baptism representing what took place in his heart on the road to Damascus.

Surly Titus, you know that the Blood of Christ is the only thing that can wash away sin? With that taking place spiritually and water baptism representing the sins being washed away.

No you need to pay close attention to the time line of events.
Paul meets Jesus on the road to Damascus.
Three days later Ananias sent by Jesus says to Saul, Arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
If Paul's sins were already washed away on the road to Damascus. Ananias would not have told Paul to wash away his sins three days later after he believed.

The washing away of sins by the Blood of Christ took place the very moment Paul believed on Christ on the road to Damascus.

Three days later Paul was water baptized symbolizing those sins being washed way, and His new faith in Christ.

God gave requirements to receive His blood. Belief is only one. There are more, Mark 16:15-16.
You dont get access to the blood by belief alone. Water has no power but faithful obedience to Jesus' gospel saves,
Romans 1:16,
-for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the Power of God to salvation for everyone who believes for the jew first and also for the greek.

Mark 16:15-16 is Jesus' gospel.
You cannot be saved, cannot gain access to Jesus' blood without obeying His gospel.
This is where and how we receive Gods grace.

Then you don't pay attention to Luke's account in Acts 9. Or you just deny what took place.

Ananias said nothing about his sins already being washed away. Ananias said nothing of baptism being symbolic only of Paul's sins being Washed away.

Acts 2:38 teaches that repentance and water baptism is to obtain eis forgiveness of sins not because they were already forgiven.

Acts 2:37 they believed on Jesus.
Acts 2:38 Peter tells them to repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins.

Same in John's baptism.

Mark 1:4,
-John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance For the forgiveness of sins.
Would you also say these Jews sins were already washed away before they were baptized by John as you do when the Jews in Acts 2:38 are baptized in Jesus' baptism?

I see we have made a 360 right back to legalism!

Eph. 1:13
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,"

This is how we are saved, no legalities, no stings, just faith! And He will take it from there.

Ok, we don't see eye to eye, and that's ok too! See you on the boards.

Well you once again are calling obeying Jesus legalism.
It's not otherwise why did Jesus give us commandments to obey?

You need to think about John's water baptism for the jews.
It was to wash away there sins.
Jesus' new covenant baptism is to wash away our sins.
Cornelius being the first converted gentile to Jesus' gospel was commanded to be water baptized.
Folks have been taught error when they say Cornelius was saved by Holy Spirit tongue speaking.
That's all Cornelius received was miraculous tongue speaking. Tongue speaking was never to forgive ones sins.

I know you believe your gospel is one. But there is truly one gospel, 1Corinthians 15:1-4; Mark 16:15-16. Jesus gospel never says you are saved by anything alone. I understand that you are teaching two gospels. I know you dont see it that way. Your theories contradict themselves.
Look friend. This is actually real simple to figure out. Circumcision (OT) is likened to baptism (NT), right? If you read Acts 15:1, Acts 15:5, and Acts 15:24, you would learn that circumcision so as to be initially saved was condemned.

In the beginning of Romans 4, Paul talks about Abraham and David in relation to the person who works not, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, and that his/her faith is counted to them as righteousness.

Then the chapter talks about Abraham’s circumcision and uncircumcision in relation to WHEN his faith was accounted as to him as righteousness.

Was it is circumcision or uncircumcision?

Romans 4:9-10 KJV says:
“Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.”

It was in uncircumcision.

Genesis 15:6 is this event where Abraham believed God and it was accredited to him as righteousness. This is when Abraham believed the promise of God. He did no works in this event. Yes, Abraham did other things in the faith prior like leaving his home, but the example of our faith in being saved initially is this event of Abraham believing God in regards to the promise. Romans 3-5 makes it clear Paul is concerned here about how we first get saved (which lines up with Ephesians 2 and Titus 3 in regards to being saved by God’s grace initially without works).

Anyways, my point here is that in Romans 4: Paul relates works in this discussion with his talking about circumcision. Circumcision is a work even in the time of Abraham because of the discussion Paul gave. So this means baptism is a work (because it is like the circumcision of the Old Testament). Ephesians 2:8-9 says we are saved by God’s grace without works. Romans 10:13 says whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Cornelius was saved by receiving the Spirit before being baptized. This is a part of salvation.

Let God’s grace shine!

There are genuine Christians and there are "nominal/pseudo" Christians. There are genuine believers and there are make believers and it's not hard to find them mixed together within professing Christendom and on various Christian forum sites.
God will sort us out. lol

The Bible says there is ONE faith and ONE body (church, Col 1:18). Man says there are many faithS, many churchS.
The Bible says God's word is truth and truth never contradicts itself. Man says contadictions are acceptable and man can choose his own doctrines and faiths for himself to believe.
The Bible says Christ is the ONE husband of the ONE bride, the church, (2 Cor 11:2). Man says Christ is a spiritual adulterer, a spiritual polygamist for He is espoused to thousands of brides/churchES.

I would say man made DENOMINATIONALISM is the mess, not Christianity.
Notice I said "Christianity" not Christianity.

Well, it's pretty simple! If man can't be saved until he is water baptized, then man is depending on man to be saved through that ceremony.

You can't water baptize yourself! That's just about as far from Grace as one can get!
We are all learning. Those who preach water baptism as mandatory for salvation are being unmerciful. If we have to obey God in everything to be saved then God is unmerciful. Someone dying in the desert with no water can't be saved? How ridiculous!

To all:

Is unfruitfulness and or sin okay if you just believe in Jesus alone?

Hosea 10:12 KJV says:
“Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”

I agree that baptism for initial salvation is ridiculous for that reason, as well. I also said before that it be unfair of God that he could not save anyone in a desert with no water. It definitely is not in the character of God’s grace and mercy.

No, it's not ok. Those who drift that way, as most of us will at times, will be treated as a son. And what son that belongs to God will go without chastising, unless he be illegitimate?

As for obeying God as a part of salvation after we are saved by God’s grace:

Well, I believe Christians are in a sanctification process (2 Corinthians 7:1). They have to die in a righteous state to make it into the kingdom in the end. See Hebrews 12:14, 1 Timothy 6:12, Galatians 6:8-9, Hebrews 10:36.

Those who are truly saved are still learning. If we have to obey God in all things to be saved then NONE of us are saved.
