It’s probably not good to go in a church and start flipping chairs and tables, in this scene of the Lord Yeshua, we see him doing such also whipping the animals out of the temple.

Why? Because the people in those days, were making a mockery of his Father. How? Selling animals for sacrifices in order to have their sins forgiven. Making money off the people while they themselves were sinners in mocking God. They were not worshipping God in a proper manner. They had become so influenced by not only their own traditions but worshiping the Law, over God. In turn making the Temple a den of thieves. These people were able to read (most likely) and listen to the teachings of the Old Testament but concerning their hard hearts they only desired to turn a profit, and this when Jesus clearing it out makes the stance that his Fathers house is a house of prayer, not to be making money off the peoples sins. And when the children praised God for the Son of David. The leaders became indignant because of this treatment. After all they were blood born Jews, who is the Jesus fellow to come in and do such things; let alone say such things?

The Holy Spirit within Jesus whom was the Word of God was at work that day, and before and after.

He goes on to curse the fig tree after this, signifying the death of Israel. Remember God worked in a matter of blessing and curses upon those people in that day, and this curse resembles the fact that the death of Israel materially was coming upon themselves.

Matthew Chapter 21:12-17; also Matthew 21:19-22 concerning the fig tree.

Dear MatthewG,
Jesus' clearing of the temple is a "type" which teaches a spiritual truth. It teaches what Christ is going to do for a person when He judges them. This time of judgment is called the Day of the Lord.

When Christ judges a person, He will clear out all the spiritual things within the person which has caused them to be carnally minded and sinful. Christ has a great passion for His judgment to start because He knows that His judgment is a necessary component of conversion (salvation).

Luke 12:49 “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!

Conversion requires a person to have both the Early and Latter Rains of the Spirit, followed by judgment. The Holy Spirit that Christ gives a person will produce a new spiritual nature (New Earth) within them. His judgment will then follow to remove their "marred" spirit (Old/Natural Earth) which has caused them to be carnally minded. This spiritual process that produces a new child of God and destroys the child of the Devil is called conversion.

As for what Christ is teaching about the Fig Tree, it, too, is a "type". In the spiritual language of Christ's New Covenant teachings, a "tree" represents a person. The person can either be a good tree or a bad tree.

The good tree represents a person who is under the New Covenant of Grace through Faith. This tree will produce good fruit which will come from the works of Christ within the person.

The bad tree represents a person who is under the Old Covenant of Law. This tree will produce bad fruit which comes from the person's own works.

In the case of the Fig Tree that Christ curses, it represents the non-Elect people who cannot produce the good fruit that Christ desires of them. This bad tree will be destroyed by Christ's judgment during their time of conversion:

Mat 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire (judgment/Lake of Fire).

The Nation of Israel is represented by the Fig Tree which was not able to produce good fruit under the Old Covenant of Law (man's works). But this same tree also represents apostate believers who likewise mix their own works with faith and cannot produce good fruit.

In Matthew chapter 24, Christ is teaching the pathway to salvation that He causes His Elect to travel to their moment of conversion/salvation. This pathway includes a time when the Elect person is apostate when they mix their own works with faith. This time period of being apostate occurs after the person has received the Early Rain of the Spirit and before they receive the Latter Rain of the Spirit. This time period was typed by Elijah's 3 1/2 year drought.

In this apostate condition, the Elect believer cannot produce good fruit.

Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

But since the Elect are chosen for salvation before they die, Christ will cause the apostate Elect believer to repent of their works by sending a person to them with a call of repentance. Those who respond to the call and repent (the Elect) are the ones to whom Christ has beforehand given the Latter Rain of the Spirit. Those who do not respond to the call and repent (those not chosen/no Latter Rain) will later be cut down in the Lake of Fire.

Christ teaches this event below:

Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent (of works), ye shall all likewise perish. 6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. 7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
