To whom was this Gospel written? If it records Jesus' words, we must heed what he said to the Gentile woman in Matthew 15:24: "So he answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” If that is true, and it is, then his words must first be interrupted as applying to Israel. There is no command made toward the Gentile believers admonishing them to keep the Shabbat. There is no evidence that Abram, the Iraqi, kept the shabbat. Only later, God commanded the children (offspring) of Jacob to keep Shabbat. Context and audience are paramount in properly handling/dividing the word of God.
You do not understand TRUTH

Begin in chapter 1 of the Gospel of John

Stay in chapter 1 until you pray and receive understanding.

God says: "Anyone who works on the sabbath are to be put to death" - Exodus 31:15

"Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."

Have you worked on the sabbath?
I think this applies...
Acts 17:30
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Good Morning @Hobie,

Great point

However, the application of these words from the Apostle are connected to his audience = Gentiles worshipping other gods

Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious;
for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:

TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.

Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.” So Paul departed from among them. However, some men joined him and believed, among them Dionysius the Areopagite, a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

The Sabbath Rest is a direct Commandment from God given to the nation Israel/Jews which begins in Genesis

Therefore, God is Speaking a Truth that we all need to KNOW and how it applies to us 'Today'

Your mission @Hobie, should you accept this, is to find out 'Today' what the purpose of the Commandment for Sabbath rest as given by God in Exodus 31:12-17

Its no mission, the Creator shows what purpose and day it is...

Genesis 2
King James Version

1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

He made it for us as a blessing, so it's not hard..
Exactly.

I feel like this is one of these things we've been debating for a long time with a "do I have to" or "I don't have to, that's legalism" perspective, and not a "what does this gift have to offer me" perspective.

Through Acts 13,14, 17 the early churches were still observing the sabbath. Why would anyone not want to follow their example?

The lie of deception has spread and the truth has been thrown aside às we can plainly see..
