Yeah, Minot AFB was always an assignment nobody in the Air Force wanted. They say that the cold flight line wind would cut you in half. I know it's just an urban legend, but the story is told of a young Security Policeman who got cold one night and decided to crawl into some landing gear (I don't even know what kind of aircraft they had there at the time--I think it might have been B52s) to shield himself from the wind, fell asleep, and froze to death. That boy's father was supposedly Paul Harvey, the famous radio news commentator. The story appears to be patently false. I don't know how such a tale could be conceived. Oh, well. Hopefully, I'm not guilty of gossip-mongering or bearing false witness here.
