The unrenewed man will seek out payback. It's as natural as falling off a log.
The renewed man resists the temptation for revenge. Its a resistance I need to put in place regularly as the old man battles for supremacy.
In the Old Testament the people killed the perverts.
Can't say I disagree with that form of justice. No more reoffender cases. No more babies innocence lost to evil.

The judgement we approve of or meter out to others is the judgement that will be metered out to us.
Jesus put it this way; whatever measure we use will be measured back to us. Matthew 7:2
That's why discernment is key.
Jesus was God in flesh.
The OT laws were His. If He does not change ,what are you to make of that.

It is true, God does not change.....so how does Christianity (we) reconcile the Old and New Covenants? This question is right at the heart of any lucid understanding.

I had to write a lot of Contracts when I was in business as a Mechanical Contractor. Covenant means the same thing as Contract. It's a legal document. Some are Uni-lateral and some are Bi-Lateral. Unilateral is when only one part of the contract has to take any actions to perform whatever. A Bilateral contract, both parties of the contract have resonsibilities to fulfill their part of the contract. "If this-The That" is a Bilateral contract.
If we were to look at the Old Covenant and New Covenant's as the Old Contract and the New Contract, we immediately understand that Addendums can be legally added to a contract with proper procedure. So it's not like, the OT Contract is null and void because it is not null or void in any way. There was an Addendum added to the terms of the OT Contract which, at that point very much of the OT Contracts terms had been fulfilled so the Addendum was made to bring about new conditions to the (Original!) Contract, under the terms of the NT Contract. Big changes they were! Praise the Lord eh?! Basically what I think happened was, Jesus bought out the Contract and made His Addndums. Even Jesus said I am not come to destroy the Law or the Covenants, not to destroy but to fulfill.
That's how I reconcile the OT & NT (Contracts) Covenants. I think only people who dont know how contracts work argue against that stuff. We're not under the law anymore, da da da...Of course we are except that we be in Christ. The NT Contract is certainly a Bilateral Contract. His part had came with such a high price that, it is a gift to us, if we receive it and accept Him and If we repent, If we learn how to love. If we try...
Do most Christians don't think that there is court in Heaven? I see a lot of talk in scripture of Judgements and thrones and so, yes there are courts in Heaven, Just courts.
The evil Angels have to stand in line at the court house in Heaven to accuse people and petition the courts of Heaven to let them...attack Job and kill all his kids, or whatever they are asking to be allowed to let happen that day.
Now us Brothers & Sisters in Christ do not have to worry about the law, that's just Abba's work, but when He gets off work and comes home, we are His Children !!! So we know we must obey Daddy. And it occurs to me that this is a fine and safe place to be. :)
