In the case of the quotes about the parents who do it (and so many do, now, when the younger generation reach the first tattoo stage), it is more probably in order to have a sense of family/parental sharing.

I cant tat my body.. but if I could that's it above. on my upper arm.. small version. She is the reduced faith of the Church.. the bottom. The followers who just believe in Jesus and Mary.

She went up against the whole Church, too.

I got my tattoo 18 months ago as my daughters started to get those.

I'm 65 and got my first tattoo last year with my younger daughter. It is on my forearm near the wrist ..I will be getting another one when my older daughter comes to visit in a couple of weeks.

I was pointing out earlier that for the younger generation, it's what they do now.

And when it proves to be the catalyst for the parent deciding it's nice to do, too, not unusually it's an occasion for a design that's faith based.

I refuse to believe they didn't know how to cut woman's hair in the 1400's. Woman the same yesterday, today , and tomorrow.

I thought the quotes from Jill Clarke and Sandi Boland quite interesting, in which they were each satisfied when their own experiences getting inkings flourished after their daughters had started to get tattoos.

To be honest Farouk I don’t know where the two quotes came from and I have not seen those to members post, so I can’t really respond to either of them. I have already stated in other threads why and when I got my tattoo done. I didn’t follow my children as such as they had tattoos years before I even considered having mine done.

Yes, and apparently they’re ‘Christian emblems’. They obviously don't read the Old Testament, or it’s under the blood or whatever. (Ps. I have a forty yr old tatt-they look ridiculous on wrinkly old skin :) )

@2 Chr. 34:19 Oh, well, you actually were relatively speaking one of the pioneers, so to speak, since 40 years ago it was mainly the men still who had it done. Subsequently it has opened up hugely to women also; but 40 years ago not nearly so. Today in North America apparently statistics show that 59%-70% or more of parlor clients are female; which historically at least owes a lot to the pioneers who were first prepared to endure the pain. This at least is what it's like in North America; I don't know about the UK...

I guess also that if someone tries to use the Leviticus passage against tattoos, one could ask: Do preachers shave? (it also seems to say about not trimming beards.) If preachers do shave, then maybe they are admitting that they are New Testament believers with the Gospel as their rule of life, rather than Old Testament Jews in the land under the law.

My wife and talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and I'm sure that other conversations have arisen as a result of her willingness to endure a parlor session for such a design. Historically, even hers owes - in a sense - a certain amount to the pioneer tattooed women who did it several decades back (although I'm not sure that yours is actually a faith-based design.)
