My father-in-law ran a gas station in So. Cal. in the late 60's where a car load of young men pulled up, he came out to pump the gas (typical in those days), where they said "give us your money". He replied "$2, got it", and grabbed the fuel nozzle. They called him back to the window where he sprayed the occupants and vehicle with gasoline, with some of them smoking, then dropped the nozzle and ran into a field. The occupants bailed out of the car, got rid of their cigarettes, and subsequently drove off.

The person in this video was equally aware of his surroundings, and responded accordingly:
