I’m looking forward to this Indigenous Translation of the Bible.

Found a Native American/Indigenous First Nations translation of the New Testament in English. Translated and presented by numerous indigenous biblical scholars and theologians from the collectivist paradigm and shaped by a group that also feels displaced and excited because of the colonization of their nation by westernized Christianity with a individualist view. I think it’s more of an accomondationist thought for thought cultural translation as opposed to a concordistic interpretation. IMG_5064.png

How interesting! I have a soft-spot for our Native American people.
From my understanding, some Native American tribes were easily persuaded to convert to Christianity by the Colonists. Others...not so much.

Am so curious about this!!

It’s pretty good so far. They really highlight the importance of cultural translation through thought for thought. If you have a public library card you may be able to find it on hoopla digital for free. It’s used by public library systems in America.

...and what I bolded I think is so important. Understanding the time period of the writings...and the culture at that time, is so important to getting the WHOLE message.

I can gain access to a few online libraries (for instance, Internet Archives), but I think I'd rather have the hard copy in my hand. Been looking for a link to download the WHOLE FNVNT, but so far, I've only been able to get hold of a 'sampler'. If you spot a link that provides it in its entirety, I'll hope you post it!

If I find one I’ll post it. I always use Hoopla Digital. It’s like a digital public library tool. It’s all free. With a library card you can sync up to the hoopla digital app and download books. Audiobooks and ebooks.

I know. I've used Hoopla before, but my library card expired (I didn't even realize it had an expiration date!). Too much for me to renew it right now. I'll have to wait until January. No rush.
