In my opinion, people with land who homestead in any way are some of the wisest people in this country.
Neither of us learned important life lessons from parents…took awhile, but concluded God first, and work hard, save, buy land!!! spend the rest of our lives (don’t borrow don’t use “credit” options,) building as can afford, garden, canning, tending, animals, family, neighbors, keep, a bit aside for this or that unexpected….don’t go broke with the insurances…gadgets…nonsense buying to impress others….
AS well, as you have mentioned…like thrifting, stores, adds, etc. Have the skills and tools and imagination to make an others “don’t want”…into an attractive need for us.
Ours kids are grown, but visit, bring their broods…the little kids play with the animals, walk about the trails, play in the dirt pile…and when they can reach the gas peddle, we teach them how to drive the truck, and have “roads” on our property and let them drive around…”good lesson”….then they learn to drive the tractor…and “beg” to mow in the fields… LOL…
We had a “philosophy” the kids were told early on…we don’t have time to be “sick” “so don’t be sick”….a mind set of sorts, I suppose, but pretty much seems to have worked…never had use for a “family” doctor. Maybe be strange to some…but none of us takes p-script or otherwise drugs.
Astounding to me, of number of people that daily gulp handfuls of pills, especially “children”.
Little kids…Yes…early on, toddler Bible…!!
Glory to God,
