I can do this.

I haven't seen many results and Ive even gone backwards. But I still believe I'm going to be fit, healthy, and strong.
You are an inspiration. I started going for walks a while ago and now I added touching my toes. I know I'm a little far off from a workout, but it's all I can do for now. Keep up the good work Wynona!

Today, I realized the Bible doesn't really seem to command us to read it every day or have a daily devotional time.

I just assumed that those things were a must for believers and used to judge my husband for not doing them daily. I believe now that his relationship with God is strong though he operates in a different way.

If I miss a day of Bible reading, Im no longer going to guilt trip myself. God time is supposed to be a blessing, not a chore.

Feeling like garbage.

I wanted to change my feelings, so I turned to sugar. I couldn't think of anything else fun I wanted to do. What I really wanted was for my husband and I to have a special time but it turned into "make brownies for me" somehow.

I had eaten really good all day. No movement from the scales.

Im so frustrated with myself and even with hubby for mentioning ice cream first.

Why does it feel like Im never going to win? Why does it feel like my husband doesn't really want me to meet my goals???

Im sure the brownies didn't end my journey, just why?? Why do I use food to deal with feeling needy for attention? Why do I feel sabotaged???

Wynona, I feel for you.

I was watching a "reality show" (God help me!) where master golf instructor Hank Haney was tasked with fixing former basketball hall-of-famer and celebrity Charles Barkley's gawdawful golf swing. (You can Google it; it's worse than mine.) Sir Charles asked, "Why do I do that?" Haney's answer was simple, but profound: "You do that because you've always done that."

We do that because we've always done that.

I dislike Proverbs 26:11 because I know it's true.

I also dislike mentioning dog vomit and brownies in the same post.

Lent is an appropriate time to try to develop better habits.

Brownies are definitely comfort food. I'm thinking specifically of the Starbucks Double Fudge Brownie I indulged in last week after sitting with my friend through her chemo treatment. Comfort food has its payback; that's why we eat it.

Hang in there, Wynona.

Thanks Lambano. I was upset because I've been trying for almost a year and haven't seen results. But I have a new plan.

I never had a problem before I started a certain medication so I will be asking my doctor to switch it out for a new one.

Ive put up with the weight issues as a side effect for long enough.

Now I'm very hopeful that this will help.

Getting fed up and didn't portion control or abstain from sugar for lunch.

I feel like a bear trying to subsist on nothing.

There are times when portion control is going really well. This isn't one of those time.

Im hungry and stressed and until I change meds its just a choice between constant hunger or weight gain.

However, its not about it being all or nothing. I won't give up. Ill keep trying.

While there is truth in what you have said... for myself, I must read my Bible and talk to God each day. This for me is the beginning of my day for without that start, I cannot make it through the day on the Lord's side.

For me, this is the eating of his flesh and the drinking of his blood of which Jesus speaks in John 6. I know from your posts that you @Wynona are watching carefully, as a good steward, what food and how much food your flesh consumes. That is an important thing for a steward to do. But... is the not the "new man" of us mentioned by Paul as important as the flesh of us?

People do fast in the flesh but the norm for anyone is to eat meals [plural] every day with snacks and drinks in between. Why do they do that? Why do they want to do that?

Why should we want to eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus everyday? What is the point of nourishing our body, be it the old one or the new one?

"Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever." John 6:53-58

I know for me, I try to read the Bible and listen for God each day. I just don't want to look down on those who maybe dont.

I realize the inside is more important than the inside. I just get frustrated with the flesh at times.

I understand this in particular. One reason the regularity of my own posts has decreased on this forum a whole lot in the last couple of years is because of my own head wanting to lead. Lengthy discussions which often become heated arguments are usually not good for me, or the other guy, or the one who is simply reading what we have written.

Biting your own tongue when you are sure the other person is really missing it can be a hard thing to do.

We need to remember that Jesus, who certainly knew the right answers, sometimes at seemingly critical times, kept his mouth shut. As Solomon wrote 3,000 years ago, there is a time to keep silence as well as a time to speak. Knowing we should be silent is one thing! Doing it is quite another!

How many people too often lead themselves by their own head knowledge instead of listening to and following after the Holy Spirit? I wish I could say that I had never been guilty...

I just wrote a poem. Its called Fleeting.

A petal lands on my window

It'll be gone by tomorrow

The joy in a wrinkled smile

The dimples of a happy child

Here today and gone tomorrow

Tell the girl beauty is fleeting

Its a beautiful life if we let it be

She's insecure but a stronger hand

Clasps in prayer for her healing

Thinking about hubby a lot today. We've been playing phone tag all day.

He is my fix-it man. If I have a problem, he doesn't like to see me process it in an emotional way. He wants to solve it.

He is different than me and I appreciate it. I gain a lot of strength from him.

I know he doesn't like seeing me upset. Hopefully I don't worry him too much.

This is (in part) a man-woman thing; it took me years to figure it out. The Sweet Lady would tell me her problems because she's a woman, and this is a form of emotional intimacy. I'm a man, and an engineer to boot. Engineers are problem-solvers; it's part of the job description. So, I'd start telling her how she might fix the problem. WRONG! What she wanted was a sympathetic ear. She wants to know I care; what she doesn't want is to be told what to do.

It is a man-woman thing. You're right about the sympathetic ear thing. Its not that I dont appreciate advice, it will just take a minute for me to process if Im sad.

There have been many times where in the heat of the moment, I feel obstinate about something but I come around later.

Hubby says he's learned to wait for this rather than pushing his way all at once.
