No we enter the kingdom when we are born again. Not a single verse says we enter the kingdom by the cross.

John 3:3
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.

John 3 says as moses lifted the serpent..so too must the son of man be lifted. What whoever believes shall not perish but has eternal life.

The cross is the means of new birth. We must believe in the death burial and ressurection. Thats how we are born again.
