And fast. But, it really was more subtle I would say. As the culture changed, and the Pastors relied more on the congregants than God for provision, we see the culmination now. :(
@Nancy You can see how with mega-churches unable to open because of virus fears, the buckets are not being passed round for cash...

I've seen some local churches, when they advertise their preaching, add that there will be no collection.

I like that; they make a point of saying that they are not interested in people's money when preaching the Gospel.

It's time for them to declare the social distancing nonsense to be null and void, and start passing the buckets around. Except this time they should ask the visitors to help themselves to the cash. That should increase attendance.

@Pearl ,
I wasn’t disagreeing with worldliness creeping into the church, I just saw one generation not agreeing with how another generation does things. If you really think about it - hasn’t the world been influencing how church is done since the beginning of a Christianity - look how acts did church, compared to how church changed over the years.
All the way back in acts Christians were not acting as they should , hence why Peter and Paul had to write them letters and guide them, and in each generation that has not changed. So to say that this generation is getting it wrong proclaims a falsehood that at some stage we were getting it right - don’t think that is true.

I am looking at Nehemiah at the moment, Chapter 8-9 shows a united people coming together and hearing their history and weeping over the reality check that brought the temple down - Ezra proclaimed the Torah, and the Levite’s spent time explaining to the groups of people what was being conveyed. United they were grieved, and humbled- it hit them deep inside. Then they celebrated , ‘ The Joy of the Lord is my strength ‘
After the brief and humility came celebration of renewal. Now that’s church !!

Mother and daughter are hiking through the woods. Daughter sits comfortably on mother's back. Mother sees where she is going; daughter sees where she has been. At the journey's end, both will have a story to tell.

The creeping worldliness is not only in what we see with our physical eyes, although that might of course be included in our darkness. There was a time when but... never mind about that negative reflection. We need to really consider what God is able to show us when we read that Jesus was the best example that any man had ever seen, and as they nailed him to the cross who was on his side? Was it better then? Is it better now? People insist this or that it is, but what is God saying to our heart now?

Jesus did not wait until after he died to share God's Word. Jesus did not wait until after he died to take a stand against sin. Jesus did not say before he died that it is impossible for a man to avoid sinning. Rather he said:

"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matt 5:48

The creeping worldliness is ready always to work its dark work inside of each of us... but when we are yielding ourselves really to the Holy Spirit, when we are leaning on Jesus... it cannot!

"I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." John 9:4-5

And when Jesus left this world, we were supposed to be... we are supposed to be the Light of the world!

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matt 5:14-16

If we stumble, let us not sit there blaming ourselves and quitting... rather stand up again and say "I... with You can do this Lord!
For me the man alone it may be impossible, but for You in me, nothing is impossible!"

"Then said Jesus … Will ye also go away?" John 6:67

I read this quote on Facebook the other day but it's gone now - deleted or something so content not available:

Yes, Jesus hung out with prostitutes and drunkards and outcasts.

Here’s the thing, though - by the time Jesus was finished with these people, they weren’t prostitutes or drunkards or outcasts anymore.

Jesus came to transform people, not indulge them. Christianity is about surrender, not comfort. We are to align ourselves with his standard, not the other way around.

Amen.
Unfortunately the Jesus fan group includes unbelievers who distort the truth because their hearts are hard and cold.

One lady told me the heart is wicked and can never be resolved. She was brutal to others, a church leader, knew scripture well, but totally defended and sure that the miraculous was everything and love a failed message of tea and cakes.

Shinning a light on her caused hurt and I was the enemy. We have lots of people like her who have never heard love heals, open hearts, brokenness and grace are God's gift. God bless you.

And we all know how tolerant today's church is. In many the message is come to Jesus 'cos he loves you and will make your life better. When it should be saying your sin will lead to death; repent and come to Jesus. Too many worldly things are tolerated or accepted.

:( Yeah, too bad he couldn't deliver Judas from Satan. It makes me wonder what verdict he is going to get on judgement day.

People can give by bank transfer or send cheques. The fact that a church building is not allowed to open does not mean that the church - the people - are not allowed to give or communicate with each other.

Oh, and since I see that Farouk has a response, there are some like Farouk actively promoting tattoos and piercings on Christians, so that the neo-pagans and Goths will be delighted with the way Christians look.
looks has nothing to do with your soul. that are many ... so called good christian prostituting themselves out to false doctrine. which is worest?

God read your heart, not your hair cut or your tattoos. for these things are of the flesh. and the flesh will be done away with. scripture, 1 Corinthians 15:35 "But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?"
1 Corinthians 15:36 "Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:"
1 Corinthians 15:37 "And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:"
1 Corinthians 15:38 "But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.".

so make sure that your heat is change, for the natural body is no.

one other point. the Lord Jesus call these people who obeyed this.
Matthew 21:28 "But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard."
Matthew 21:29 "He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went."
Matthew 21:30 "And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not."
Matthew 21:31 "Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you."
Matthew 21:32 "For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him."

well the Lord Jesus said, "That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you." he call them publicans, harlots/prostitutes.
