If when that was spoken ( quote from Joel) those people in Acts were "in the last days"....then how much more we who are 2000 years even closer, are in the Last Days.

But, Calvinists don't often change their mind...neither do cessationists.

I'm not sure how this 'cessationist' should see that as a challenge to cessationism.
But then I'm only a cessationist out of 'peeve' at not enjoying gifts such as 'tongues' !!

Don't they believe that anything outside of 'normal' ( praying and reading the bible) has finished at the end of the NT, and all things died with apostles. ?
That is what I thought a cessationalist was. ;)

First, I have never said I am a pastor. Second, I preach the Scriptures. That's what I have to offer. The Scriptures.

Surely you don't expect this 'Oneoff' cessationost to believe the same as other cessationists?
Maybe I do, maybe I don't.
I just believe that the range of special 'miraculous' experiences were only necessary for as long as it took in order to 'kick-start' something as radically new as the Gospel of a 'spiritual' kingdom, amongst Jews whose expectation was that Jesus was preaching the return to them of the earthly Jerusalem.
But as I've said, maybe that's just 'peeve' at personally having been 'left out' of those experiences.
On the other hand, to me, it makes sense of my general overview of what I see outside of ultra charismatic and 'Pentecostal' expressions of worship (within which I am sooooo uncomfortable).

Verified to or for whom by what means for what purpose? God has spoken to me and that is good enough for me. What difference should it make to me that someone else doubts that He has? I can verify that to an unbeliever as well as I can verify that Jesus rose from the dead to the same unbeliever. Are you also an unbeliever who doubts that Saul/Paul has an encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus?

We are not at a stale mate. People who claim this are frauds, they are not hearing audible voices from God. They are hearing their own imaginations or worse, demons.

I can't see any exceptions to the parameters. If we say there are exceptions, we would be saying God didn't get things right to begin with and had to tinker with His creation later. In cases where it may look as if God is intervening unilaterally, I remain confident He has at least one servant on the earth who agrees with His purpose.

I think this what we, you and I, in a discussion long ago called a scarlet thread. It remains unbroken from the time of Jesus to now.

Who decided the canon was closed? You apparently agree with the ones who decided it was closed, but as you see on this forum and elsewhere I am sure, there are people who disagree. It is your belief, but you speak as if it were an Absolute Truth [AT]. While I agree there are ATs, exactly what they are is knowledge that belongs to God and perhaps to anyone who like Jesus has already overcome the world. Anyone else still lives for God by faith. Faith is NOT equal to knowledge although if followed as I believe it, along it pathway, knowledge will be encountered...

Ok, that is where you are, but in spite of your assertions, without a revelation yourself from God, they are still only believed by faith, which the Bible describes as the "substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". That is your faith, which differs from that of others here. Of course, you believe you are correct but so does everyone else. I will leave the final judgment in the hands of God where it belongs!

They managed because some of them were taught by Jesus and all them who had any right in the eyes of God were led by the Holy Spirit... No matter what others here think, I believe that without the lead of the Holy Spirit the Bible itself will confuse people. Our seemingly innumerable number of denominations based on the same Bibles should speak for itself in that regard... but there is also no consensus on that. Yet in the Bible itself it is written that God is Not the author of confusion!

Sorry, Scripture says to rebuke false teachers and prophets. Test the spirits. So if they can't be tested they are to be rejected.
