It's nice Takis also takes volunteers from other countries. I guess you can volunteer for a couple weeks or more. He's on the Greek Island of Crete.
The new dog was transferred to another enclosure as the other two dogs were a bit afraid of him.
These new companions get along well.

But Why are these animals abandoned?
When I went to turkey last year the same was found there, and the Turks loved and fed them and was rebelling against the government for wanting to destroy them. The Turkish people stepped up and made all the animals sacred and they were so happy and loved humans. The dogs were all chipped by the people and were the most softest creatures. That showed the government lol!
I guess in Greece its the same, but they take them to shelters instead of leaving them "street dogs"
The shelter in this thread is located in Crete, Greece. From the videos I watch, they don't seem to care too much for their animals.
Takis, who owns the shelter (550 dogs...some cats) is a real animal lover. He also takes volunteers from other countries if you are interested. I think some volunteer for a couple of weeks or some do more time.
I also subscribe to Adorable Paws, a rescue in Istanbul. Onur who runs it feeds hundreds of stray cats and a lot of mountain stray dogs. He, his wife and child also welcome visitors....as does another rescue in Morocco that I follow.
Good news! This rescued older dog had a giant tumor but was successfully operated on. She even gets up towards the end of the video.
An abandoned hunting dog found in the mountains is going to the shelter. Short video. Takis will probably post an update video soon.
Rescuing mother dog and eight puppies. Greece has passed a law about serious animal abuse. So a lot of these chained dogs are being turned over to Takis Shelter.
At first she wouldn't come out of the dog kennel. But here she is now eating and in her big nice enclosure at the Greek shelter. @Ritajanice
The senior dog in above video was just sitting in a corner of the yard...even in the rain. So Takis moved her to the senior dog area. She now has a bed and blanket.

This dog is extremely scared of men. Hopefully Takis will be able to get through to her.
