The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. A man found him.
He hid it back and went away very happy. He sold everything he owned and bought this field.
The kingdom of heaven is also like a merchant who was looking for beautiful
pearls. When he found one of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it.

Wisdom is making sense out of meaninglessness, love out of hate. Values from poverty,
spiritual wealth from material poverty. Consolation of the soul from the sorrow of the body. Pearls
bright as stars from the dark ocean floor, the purest gold from under heaps of dirty earth.
Plenty of fish from the seemingly lifeless surface of the lake.

Man is a being who, after original sin, has begun to tell himself that he has
the power only to win, when he has an undeniable but
rarely developed talent for taking advantage of defeats!
Solomon had an epiphany at night while he was sleeping. The light came in the darkness, which is when
nothing is clear! Lux in tenebris!
Real life becomes possible only when the fog of impossibility covers it.
Most people instinctively back away from a dark room.

We are afraid of the darkness because in it we discover the light within ourselves, the jungle of feelings, we listen to the
heartbeat, we hear our breath and finally we sense God's presence.
Solomon's dream may indeed have been an ordinary dream, but perhaps the Bible has hidden under this metaphor such a
state of the human spirit, when we no longer understand anything about our lives and we are surrounded by darkness.
Solomon might have disregarded God's promises, but he believed. And it hapenned! From a deep dark sleep
that seemed only a fantasy, he extracted a humble request for a sensible
heart. An inconspicuous prayer brings out from the heart of God three times more than we ask for!

God not only gave him what he asked for, but also added wisdom, wealth, and fame.
The Almighty has rescued us from the disgrace of sin and raised us to a higher than royal height - to
the glory of heaven. During the meditation of today's texts, the myth of Pygmalion,
extracting a sculpture from an amorphous stone, comes to life.

Using a hard chisel and wounding it with hammer blows, he produced shapes so beautiful and warm
that they became life. The trick is not so much to recreate nature as to bring it to life.
And only one artist can afford such a gesture: God. He can
not only see the reflection of stars and the untouched blue of the sky in a dirty puddle,
but also see a hidden treasure in someone as dirty as the earth, which he placed there himself.
I am earth, flesh, dust, a field thoroughly plowed with suffering, wounded earth,
mutilated by the plow of misfortune, but God's gaze sees in me the most precious forms of
resemblance to Himself! God redeemed me by selling everything, even himself,
for the very low price of 30 silver coins. The deal cost Him sleep in death,
in a dark tomb sealed with a huge stone. So when he fell asleep in death, he must have been
happier than Solomon, because he had gained eve
n more wealth than he had – he had won a man!
