I'm talking about people on forums as well, as Evangelicals, and the republican party itself. I never watch FOX.

The political left is extraordinarily hateful and evil. Look at BLM and antifa, two violent, criminal, atheist, movements that routinely riot, destroy, and kill. The Democrats protect them. The right has nothing to compare, in spite of the rhetoric that the lying, leftist media parrots about groups like the Proud Boys.

Indeed, there are republicans that follow the way of Sodom and Gamorrah. They help themselves to riches and don't want to help others. A problem that dems exploit by taxing everyone. I still side with republicans though.

And to balance out that scripture, there were times the apostles and believers did not obey the authorities. So you have to have the balance. A governor was after Paul and they aided and abetted his escape. And some apostles told a governing authority they would not obey and had to obey God rather than them.

But you definitely see the governing authorities coming after them, not the other way around. Sometimes it looks to me like it’s the other way around today, believers going after the authorities…

Of course. We're supposed to obey the law unless the law violates God's commandments. The Jews of Jesus' era lived under, arguably, THREE totalitarian authorities. There were the religious authorities (Pharisees), King Herod and then the Romans. Jesus knew they were all totally corrupt yet he never engaged in politics nor asked his followers to do so. Jesus was focused on the big picture of saving souls and of spreading the word and that's what he wanted the apostles to focus on.

You know something I’ve never understood? Saying corporations don’t pay any tax. I mean, it’s obviously not true. For instance, look up a big corporation like…Walmart. You can find what they made and what they payed in taxes for a given year. I just looked. Walmart made around 15 million last year and paid taxes of close to 5 million. That’s a third of what they made. And does Mr Walmart keep that remaining 10 million? No. Pay employees, pay electricity, pay to repair a massive fleet of trucks, buy products for restocking, pay massive insurance bills, etc.
The federal govt pulls in like…4 trillion? a year in taxes from individuals and companies? And it’s not enough?? They scream about needing more. They can’t fix the roads. Quit wasting it on dumb stuff. It’s not THAT big of a country. If you’re having a panic all the time about oh nooo we can’t pay our bills and you can’t do it all on 4 trillion a year, YOURE the problem, not us.

I'm a registered independent as well.

The fact is, the world is extremely corrupt and so is the federal government. Once upon a time we had folks in the capitol that had some integrity. Those days are long gone.

As Christians, this is not surprising to us. We don't look for the redemption of this world but, rather, the return of Christ and the DESTRUCTION of this evil world.

We're not supposed to condemn people to Hell, for instance, but we ARE supposed to DISCERN.
