Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, i come from Victoria, Australia, my name is Josh, I came to join this forum, to grow in my faith, come closer to God, study the word of God, discuss Christianity and share a few testimonies, maybe make some friends, thank you for accepting me on this forum. A bit about me, I'm 19, I'm an apprentice upholsterer, I'm into my 3rd year now, i play banjo and i love country music, i also love the snow, because of the lack of it in Australia, when i see snow i go crazy hahahaha, usually you gotta drive a few hours to see snow in my part of Australia, I also love Jesus, and I'm sure that's why most of us are here. ;)

Again thank you for having me.

Welcome Josh! Yes, we are all trying to grow in our relationship with our God and hopefully most of us love Jesus at least a little considering he saved us. ;)

Upholstery is a neat profession. I feel like so many things are made cheaply these days, that I always appreciate a craftsman! Also sympathize with the snow love. I am from the southern US, and we maybe get a little bit of snow every 3-5 years or so. We've had a couple "big" snows (6"-10") for us in the past decade or so, but normally we're happy to get an inch or two. Seems like we always get the ice, as we have a very specific weather pattern that must occur for us to get snow. Around here it shuts down almost everything because while most northern states have thousands of plows, I think our county owns 1 or 2.

Josh,

Welcome on board, mate. I'm from a little further north in Brisbane. But I've experienced some of your Victorian snow way back in the 70s when I was a TV newsreader and host of a kids programme with Joey the Clown at Shepparton. But SE Qld does better for me in my older age. Besides, I'm a cane farmer's son from Bundaberg, Qld.

In addition to our common bond in Jesus, I also join you with a love for country music. For me, that includes Jim Reeves and Slim Dusty. Who are your favourite country music artists? Have you been to Tamworth with your banjo?

I hope you'll join us in lots of conversations to help us grow in our faith in Jesus.

Glad to have you join us...I'm just now getting into upholstering pre-loved pieces of furniture but I haven't got any pics to show as yet. It's a work in progress I guess.

Nah man i haven't been to Tamworth at all, for me it's hard to pick a favorite, there are so many good country music artists out there, I like anything from Johnny Cash, Slim Dusty, Alan Jackson to Dean Brody, there's not many from my generation where i live who like Country music, everyone my age seems to be into electronic dance music, techno, hip hop and rock these days.

NIce, it can be pretty tricky, but it's fun, my boss says his still learning, and his been at it for over 40 years. There's always something different, that's what keeps it interesting. ;)

I'm pleased to see you here, Josho. I hope we can have some insightful and even energetic Christian discussions.

Which Christian-based country music do you enjoy? My wife plays a Floyd Cramer style country piano and jazz piano. Not any country music in churches around here in Brisbane. Most have gone with rock and tend to be very loud.

I can't say i know much Christian-based country music artists, but my dad does have a Dan Vogler cd, idk if you know Dan Vogler, he's pretty good, i he lives in Queensland, and have heard Alison Krauss and Ron Block do some Christian stuff too. But ye much easier to find Christian Rock than Christian Country music haha. The Stanley Brothers also did some gospel, so did Johnny Cash, so did Bill Monroe, The Oak Ridge Boys are probably one of the biggest names in Christian Country music. Many big country artists have done gospel, but they have recorded more secular music than Christian country.

Thanks, Josho.

Don't forget the Statler Brothers who were a class act on the Johnny Cash show for many years. I have one of their gospel albums. You can hear some of their Gospel country songs and an interview by Bill Gaither on YouTube HERE.

Yes, the Oak Ridge Boys were very country in their gospel music. Many USA country musos also included the occasional gospel song in their repertoire. Johnny Cash sure did after he got saved.

Your Brissy mate,
Oz
