All is going well for days, weeks or months at a time when you realize something just isn't right. Maybe you're coughing a little, your bathroom habits are not in their usual cycle or despite getting lots of sleep, you feel like you've just played three hockey games in one day! Yep...YOU are getting sick and by past experience you know this isn't serious but its going to set you back a little. You do know such set backs with minor illness can be one of the best things to happen to you, right? You can lay around complaining to anyone who might listen or you you can make a call to someone who WILL listen and I'm speaking of God Himself! Anytime I speak or write about a person praying about their illness or someone else's illness I start with a "disclosure" and then while I'm speaking or writing I'm hoping that disclosure is understood. That disclosure is I am not speaking of or endorsing "Bildad Theology" which comes from the Book of Job where Bildad is banging the drum telling Job his sickness is punishment for sin. Can sickness be punishment? It could be but not always however, when we feel like garbage and all we want to do is sleep or sit around until the "crud" moves on, its a PERFECT time to examine one's self, looking in the mirrors provided in God's Word! Great places to start would be the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 with a further explanation of some of them by Jesus Christ of Nazareth in Matthew 5 and 6. Add to that the things God hates found in Proverbs 6. Again, I am NOT saying you have that flu because you sinned but that illness is setting you back so why not use that time for self examination??? Ask God to show you where you need to improve in your Christian walk. He is your Father and if you pray to Him and do what's right, He will show you what may need changing. God doesn't hate us because we sin, He would rather you not sin and it breaks his heart because He knows how sin will damage you in the long run because God Designed and Built you! God is King David's Father too and despite the FACTS that David was a murderer, schemer and adulterer as well as indirectly responsible for the murder of 85 priests, described David as a person after God's own heart...and it could be that is His description of YOU!!!!
