SDAs reject the God given OT Sabbath law to make up their own set of Sabbath rules based on who is watching them.Remember the seventh day to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8
I worship on Sunday!Rest on the Sabbath day, Go to church on Sunday. Simple.
Mrs Ellen White and former SDAs. Why do so many leave Adventism?Remember the seventh day to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8
You are free to revere any day you like tdickensheets yet you don't give that freedom to others. Does that say something about your prison?
1. Jesus rose on the first day because he rested on the seventh23 Reasons why the first day of the week, Sunday is important to Christians, but is NOT the Christian Sabbath. It is a 'significant day' but not a HOLY day. There is NONE holy but God!!
Reasons for the significance of the first day of the week (Sunday) in the New Testament for Christians:
1. Jesus rose on the first day of the week not the Sabbath: Mk 16:9
2. Jesus appeared/ spent 40 days with his mates after the resurrection. Does that make each day a Sabbath?2. All 6 appearances of Jesus with believers after the resurrection happened on Sundays, none on the Sabbath. Mk 16:9; Mt 28:5-9; Lk 24:34; Lk 24:13-15; Lk 24:33,36 + Jn 20:19; Jn 20:26
3. Gathering any particular day does not give that day sanctity.3. Christians are recorded assembling three time's on Sunday, after the resurrection and before ascension, never not even once on the Sabbath. Jn 20:19 Jn 20:26, Acts 2:1 (I do not claim that these were worship services, just the starting point of getting together on Sunday's)
4. So what?4. The only time Christians are recorded to have assembled together was on a Sunday in Acts 20:7, never does it say the disciples assembled exclusively as Christians on the Sabbath for worship.
5. So what?5. The Christians broke bread also on the eve of the first day not the Sabbath: Acts 20:7
6. So what?....and giving on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc are wrong days to give?6. Christians are commanded EVERY Sunday to give into a common treasury of the church: 1 Cor 16:1-2
7. As if a declaration validates a day? If it validates anything it was his victory over death!7. Jesus was declared the Son of God on Sunday: Rom 1:4
8. Desperation to make the glove fit is just that, desperation!8. Ps 2:7 "Today I have begotten thee" was fulfilled on Sunday when he rose: Acts 13:33
9. He rested on the Sabbath.9. The sign that Jesus was glorified was given on Sunday: Jn 7:39 + Acts 2:1,32
10. They rested on the Sabbath10. The church officially began on Pentecost Sunday: Acts 2:1
11. Everyone rested on the Sabbath.11. Jesus was crowned king on a Sunday: Acts 2:33-36
12. You've doubled up with No. 10.... :)12. The disciples reception of the promise of the Father was on Sunday: Acts 1:4-5; 2:1-4
13. So what?13. The Holy Spirit first fell upon the apostles on a Sunday: Acts 2:1-4
14. So what?14. Salvation was first preached by Peter on Sunday: Mt 16:19; Acts 2:1,38,40-41
15. LOL.....your desperation makes you a laughing stock.15. The Keys to the Kingdom of God were first used on Sunday: Mt 16:19
So what?16. The great "Triumphal entry" (also called "Palm Sunday") happened on the first day: Luke 13:32
17. They rested on the Sabbath as per the Commandment17. The time between the Lord's resurrection (sheaf waving day) and Pentecost was Sunday to Sunday counting of 50 days. The starting and stopping time was on the 1st day.
18. Worshipping a dead man is necromancy!18. First time Jesus was worshipped after the resurrection was on sunday, the first day of the week by Thomas (Jn. 20:26).
19. Life has hope, desperation has no hope only empty words.19. The first time we could be born again to a living hope was on a Sunday: 1 Pet. 1:3
20. Really?....in celebration of?20. The first time Jesus had communion after his resurrection with His disciples, was on a Sunday: (Lk. 24:1, 13, 28-35)
21. So what?21. Pentecost was a Sunday - Sunday duration of 50 days. The starting point and stopping point of counting the 50 days was a Sunday - Sunday period!
22. More desperation to sanctify Sunday.22. Jesus said we should find our rest in Him and we could do it from Sunday when He rose from the dead. Mat. 11:28 And Christians did it every day onwards from that Sunday till now.
23. You join your dots with your eyes closed.23. THE NEW DAY OF THE LORD THAT WE SHOULD REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN, IN PS 118:22-25 CAME INTO BEING WHEN JESUS HAD RISEN FROM THE DEAD AND IT ALSO HAPPENED ON A SUNDAY!!! The old sabbath laws were abolished Col.2
You know as well as I do Enoch, that the sabbath days referenced here are the many ceremonial sabbaths in the Hebrew calendar, yet you insist on making it mean the 7th day Sabbath. Doing this is akin to justifying coveting by claiming the Law is done away with.....and if you want to stretch it you can include all of the other ten with that logic.Actually it was Paul who said the sabbaths and holy days are merely SHADOWS. The reality is Christ Himself (Col 2:16,17). Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
The issue of sabbath observance was already an issue while Paul was earth. But Paul knew that the first day of the week was "THE LORD'S DAY". That is why he honored it in Troas. Check it out for yourself.
