As I mentioned earlier, that was the first Bible verse I learned when I was very little and in Sunday school.@Abigail So had you maybe wanted for a long time to get an inking with something that related to John 3.16?
@Abigail Well, if you were having all those thoughts about it, then for you it must have been a rather memorable and wholesome seeming experience as your brother was injecting the ink in.As I mentioned earlier, that was the first Bible verse I learned when I was very little and in Sunday school.
And for me it encompasses the whole of the Gospel. Why Jesus came into the world and who Jesus was when he arrived. If I was going to serve as a messenger Christian my thinking was, what better way to get it done in one fell swoop?
Anyone whom God would lead to read my back and take it to heart would then have the partial tools to begin their own search. Book, chapter, verse, and partial message that peaked their interest. After that it's Gods work in them because he put my back there to get their attention.
At least that's how I see it.
P.S. and this has happened to me. If someone reads my back and then wants to thank me for that, and they reach out to shake my hand they read my right wrist and get another message and compass direction in which to begin their journey.
He's a Christian and a tattoo artist, so yes. :)@Abigail Well, if you were having all those thoughts about it, then for you it must have been a rather memorable and wholesome seeming experience as your brother was injecting the ink in.
I think if the tattoo is on their back that has to at least be the large part of it, yes. Because, again speaking for myself, I already know Christ and read the Bible. The verse in John 3 means a great deal to me because it saved my life. Whereas for others maybe not familiar with that verse or even with Jesus, though that's hard to imagine at least for those living in America, have time and opportunity to read a short teaser if you will. And if it be God's calling they'll pursue more on their own.All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have talked seem to have had them done for witness reasons, anyway.

forums dot thewelltrainedmind dot comAround here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.
I don't think it could hurt. ;)@Abigail So do you think that it would be good if more Christians worked as tattoo artists?
Never knew that about the BB. Thanks. :) Learn sumthun new ever day.I saw a quote which indicated just how widespread it is in churches in the Bible Belt to get inked up.
@Abigail YW. Well, since at 18 onwards it's what ppl do now....I don't think it could hurt. ;)

Hi @Rudometkin So did you see some of the more recent faith tattoo posts?
@Rudometkin Well, there are lots of aspects to it to discuss, I guess, and such discussions are probably open ended. I think you indicated that you yourself would be more open to it than your wife currently seems to be; if I'm not mistaken you are not quite sure whether it's the prospect of the needle that your wife would resent rather than whether she would actually regret it after the event. For a lot of ppl the bottom line seems to be the strong motivation to receive a Bible quote or ref. that will likely result in witness opportunities and conversations. I may have mentioned that my wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 modestly inked onto her wrist area. Years ago there was a male sailor / biker image to tattoos but now also it seems there are so many wholesomely inked up Christian women who modestly radiate what they strongly believe through their faith based designs. All the young ppl with Bible verses inked that I have talked to seem to have had them done for testimony reasons, anyway.I haven't been caught up on the thread lately, but I was thinking about it a few weeks ago when I heard talk about Christians and tattoos on an FM radio station while driving to work. It was as if the talk hosts were reading the discussions directly from this thread! I thought that was neat. They were discussing possible pros and cons for getting tattoos and faith based tattoos, and the opportunities and consequences that might come with it.
@devin553344 This was from 30 years ago, right? you said, from the military. Seems also like now it is military wives who also are a very big demographic among the tattooed; often in faith, family or patriotic themes.I have a military tattoo to remember the service I gave my country.
It was a long time ago and it's faded now. My niece got some tattoos. But most of my family stays away from that sort of thing. I only got mine cause of my military service. Me and a couple service members all went down and got them at the same time. Then we got drunk too.@devin553344 This was from 30 years ago, right? you said, from the military. @devin553344 So was your niece in the military also? (family tradition to join the military, maybe....) Let's hope she didn't get drunk, anyway.......It was a long time ago and it's faded now. @Christ4Me So I guess you've not talked to him lately...?
@Christ4Me From what you say, you would enjoy the Good Shepherd passage in John chapter 10.....No. Waved to him at various times when he is driving by when I am out walking, but that's it. Just as well. I have enemies that sows discord and they did it with him earlier before he got those tattoos. In effect, he had betrayed me but I have forgiven him for when I had seen him the next time with the tattoos on his neck looking for his dog which was visiting the house across the street for some reason.
I can't have friends, but I am glad Jesus is my Friend and Good Shepherd in helping me to follow Him as His friend. He is helping me to lay my life down for my enemies as He did for me as a sinner. I am glad He had pulled me out of man made bondages to rest in Him & Hois New Covenant to me that He will do it; He kept me from serving something else in His name from serving those seducing spirits in the holy laughter movement, He helped me to discern what was sowing to my flesh, and the lie that the church led me astray on, and that took time to put it away and then to cast it down in my thoughts and think on good things, including not using a mental escape because it was sowing to my flesh and so I had to escape to Jesus for my refuge and I am trusting Him to help me not do those things again.
At various times there were even dark forces... but Jesus was in me and still in me and with me always to carry me through it all since I was a tot.
I have a lot to thank the Father for in Jesus's name because I was a dog that kept returning to that vomit, but as impossible as it seems that He would restore me, the backslider like Israel that I was, He did & is keeping me because I will not be fooled into thinking I can stand when I can fall still. I trust Him to help me to turn to Him every time I am in trouble thereby relying on Him all the time as my Friend and Good Shepherd.
I am hoping in Him that I am ready & willing to go and I trust Him to take me no matter what I am in the middle of in doing because Jesus is Lord.
PS: Anyway, neck is I think an increasingly sought after placement, like you said he has....they did it with him earlier before he got those tattoos.
Nope, her Dad has Tattoos.@devin553344 So was your niece in the military also? (family tradition to join the military, maybe....) Let's hope she didn't get drunk, anyway.......
Well, there has been a lot of mother daughter ear piercing bonding; seems like now there is also father - daughter tattoo bonding (not to say also mother - daughter tattoo bonding).Nope, her Dad has Tattoos.
So did you consider having it touched up with more ink, maybe? It was a long time ago and it's faded now.
Nope, it must be original to show it's age, like a good wine.So did you consider having it touched up with more ink, maybe?
