In a time when church buildings grow taller and programs grow busier, many are left wondering what the Gospel really is and where it can still be found in its purity. Confusion abounds not because the Word of God has changed, but because many have shifted their eyes from Christ to construction, from sound doctrine to spectacle. The call to contend earnestly for the faith, once delivered to the saints, has been drowned out by the noise of unchecked teachings and the rise of leaders who tickle ears rather than proclaim truth. As a result, many churches have become places of comfort rather than conviction, and the presence of false teachers has gone unchallenged in the name of unity or growth. The danger is real, and it is sobering to admit that sending someone to a church today can feel like sending them blindly into a spiritual minefield. But there is hope. The solution is not despair, but a return to the Word of God as the final authority. We must examine all things in light of Scripture, teach discernment, and be willing to speak truth even when it costs us. Sound doctrine must once again become the foundation of fellowship, and leaders must be held accountable to preach the Gospel without compromise. The path may be narrow, but it is not hidden. Those who seek truth must look not to the size of a building or the impressiveness of a program, but to the faithful preaching of Christ crucified, risen, and returning. That is where the true Church stands, and that is where we must lead others.

Have you ever hesitated to recommend a church because of questionable teaching?

My flesh struggled in me, when I read the title. I think the Devil would really like to complicate the Gospel, and the idea that we can recover the "simplicity" of it, threatens him.

I think you nailed it, when you said "the return" is what the simplicity (of the Gospel) points to.

I think that's what Jesus was saying when He said "the Holy Spirit will tell you what He hears in the ear", the simplicity of the Gospel is what returns again and again to the ear of the Holy Spirit.
