What is this, "your possession" of a salvation? What does that mean? Being a new creation? Having been born the spirit child of God? Immersed into Christ, to share His election and His Sonship? I don't see salvation as we are talking about it as something you have, like a hall pass, or a wallet, rather, something you are. There was something you used to be and that's over. Now you are something else.Your possession in this lifetime of the salvation that is eternal
Wynona: I see you have an impressive list of verse selections here. Have you one that is your favorite? Do you know what they all really mean? There are a lot of verses warning that we must endure in faith till the end.
Here are just a few:
Matthew 13:18-23
Romans 11:20-22
1 Corinthians 15:2
2 Corinthians 13:5
Galatians 5:1-4
1 Timothy 4:1
1 Timothy 5:11-15
Hebrews 3:6
Hebrews 3:12-15
Hebrews 12:14-15
2 Peter 2:20-22
This:What is this, "your possession" of a salvation? What does that mean?

If people who fall away were never really saved to begin with why does John tell people he affirms as being genuinely saved to let the word of God remain in them? Your application of 1 John 2:19 doesn't match vs. 24-25.Tell me that's not all you have to say!
:)
Not to be too picky, but it's the other way around.hope springs from our faith
No, it's "some who HAD been raised with Christ will not appear with Him".If you've been co-raised with Christ, you will co-appear with Christ. But you do not agree. You claim some who have bee co-raised with Christ will not appear with Him...
You're ignoring the condition for the promise...continued believing....and I say no way, prophecy will not be undone, Scripture cannot be broken.
To be with Christ is to be in Christ.I'm holding to the plain meaning of a plainly stated passage of Scripture. But it does seem to contradict your position.
Much love!
The argument is that no one can remove you from God's love and grace by force against your will:You maintain that, the flesh of man can remove one truly conformed from Gods hand, I say scripture totally refutes this sophistry.
What you're erroneously presuming is that John is saying that every person who falls away was never saved to begin with.John wrote that those who leave never were a part, they only looked like it. Why should we presume something different?
...if you keep believing. And in fact, Paul wrote that those who have died with Christ "shall" appear with Him in glory, so, I'm thinking that's what's going to actually happen.
You have the completed action of being risen with Christ as long as you continue to believe:Is "raised" here something "ongoing"? Are you "raised with Christ" in this moment, and not in the next?
The condition of Colossians 3:1-4 is that you are "risen with Christ".Is that what this passage is teaching us.
You have the completed action of being risen with Christ as long as you continue to believe:
"By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you." 1 Corinthians 15:2
The condition of Colossians 3:1-4 is that you are "risen with Christ".
You are risen in Christ as long as you continue to believe.
We know that from other scripture.
You can't un-rightly divide Colossians 3:1-4 away from the whole counsel of scripture.
That's the inheritance, but it's good you are looking. This:
"...into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." 1 Peter 1:4-5
But that is a given. You are risen in Christ as long as you continue to believe.
Salvation is not a Ferris Wheel on which people get on and off. This is his sleight of hand
You're right.Salvation is not a Ferris Wheel on which people get on and off.
