Thank you for your post.

My first response was, “of course”:

6: 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” (Ephesians 6)

One example of many.

On the other hand, we are also called to embrace our own suffering. Are we to find joy in suffering?

Romans 5:3: . . . but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;

Blessings.

We were originally created in paradise, and we're headed to paradise when we die. So, I would say, ideally yes. But, of course, we're not living under ideal circumstances for the time being.

I think we have no choice but to suffer, as we discover our shortcomings. I don't think anyone really enjoys it.

Does the Lord want us to enjoy life?
Everything in it's place. We are to enjoy knowing God. We are not here for the pursuit of creature pleasures. To everything there is a season.

Hebrews 12:11 KJV
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

1 Peter 4:1 KJV
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

1 Timothy 4:10 KJV
For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

2 Timothy 2:9-13 KJV
9) Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10) Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11) It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12) If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13) If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

2 Corinthians 4:8-11 KJV
8) We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9) Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10) Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
11) For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

Much love!
