When a molten metal is cooled, the normally random aligned magnetic field atoms, are aligned if a magnetic field is applied. It can then become a bar magnet and be called a permanent magnet.
The earth has a small magnetic field, and when molten rock from magma and plate tectonics forms the earth crust flow and cool and then retain a magnetic field from the earth. That magnetic field can be measured by scientists. As the magma flows to form the surface crust of the earth, it forms regions of magnetic polarity, which is the north or south oriented field regions.
"A transform boundary is like a tear in the Earth's crust. These plates move very slowly across the surface of the Earth as though they were on a conveyor belt. The convection currents in the much hotter mantle continually move the plates about 1/2 to 4 inches per year." How Earth's Plates Move Lesson #3
Scientist have found that the field from north to south of the earth switch back and forth every half a million years or so. Why is this? I'm not sure scientists know why, but they say the switching can happen over thousands of years to a year or so.
"The last reversal was about 780,000 years ago. Reversals are not instantaneous; they happen over a period of hundreds to thousands of years, though recent research indicates that at least one reversal could have taken place over a period of one year." Is it true that Earth's magnetic field occasionally reverses its polarity? | U.S. Geological Survey
We are overdue or due for a polarity switch, does that mean that the earth stops spinning or the north pole changes to the south pole? Or does it mean that the inside of the earth with the magnetic molten metals in the core somehow switch and the earth remains aligned proper north and south. Or is there some other explanation?
Does this apply to revelation, I recently had a vision of Jesus in heaven opening the 7th seal. Now I wonder about these events.
