PS: Nor me, either.the earrings don’t bother me.
PS: Maybe in the past it might have had more to do with wealth; but today studding one's ears can be an inexpensive way of expressing a simplicity and - I guess - sense of completeness. And a lot of ppl think it can work for both genders, right? In the ancient world, wearing gold and jewels was a way of storing wealth on one's person.

Interesting question! :)As far as I can see, there were three groups of people who wore earrings in the past. Women for beautification and wealth storage. Men, to indicate their status as a slave. Male pirates and Romany for wealth storage. Are modern men trying to be more like women, slaves, pirates or gypsies? ;)
@Lady Crosstalk PS: As regards the matter of reasons for wearing earrings, which you raised, would you be prepared then to say what your own reason might be?
(If you'd rather we didn't know, fine!)
Blessings.
I'm sure you enjoy being in a minority and doing your own thing!I don't wear them--I don't believe in punching holes in my body for frivolous purposes.![]()
Maybe his parents were surprised, too...Shocked.
The gauges are distracting to me. Would they not be considered piercings?Maybe his parents were surprised, too...
Interesting they pierced Jesus who took on the roll of servant?Hello again, farouk,
Exodus 21:6 and Deuteronomy 15:17 describe the piercing of a servants ear with an aul.
Wow God really adorned his wife Israel.'As an earring of gold,
and an ornament of fine gold,
so is a wise reprover
upon an obedient ear.'
(Pro. 25:12)
'And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand,
and all their earrings which were in their ears;
and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.'
(Gen. 35:4)
'And Aaron said unto them,
Break off the golden earrings,
which are in the ears of your wives,
of your sons,
and of your daughters,
and bring them unto me.'
(Exodus 32:2)
Exodus 32:3
Exodus 35:22
Numbers 31:50
Judges 8:24
Judges 8:25
Judges 8:26
Isaiah 3:20
Ezekiel 16:12
Hosea 2:13
I'm sure you enjoy being in a minority and doing your own thing!
Of course, Scripture has many examples of ear piercing/earrings for both genders!
Interesting about that detail from your husband's family background. Frankly I think it can be perfectly wholesome for men, young and older, to have their ears pierced and since it's a widespread style it would probably seem sensible for parents to allow it as readily for sons as they tend to do for daughters. (2c...)Hello @farouk,
Didn't seamen in past centuries wear a ear-ring of gold in one ear, to pay for their funeral in the event of their death. My husband's grandfather came to work in the coal mines in Wales, though formerly a fishermen in Devon; and he wore a gold ear-ring in his ear apparently. It was a common thing for men to have their ears pierced it seems.
