2 John 1:9
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

What I have heard said is doctrine does not save you. True, it is God that saves you, by a gift, that is Jesus Christ.
Romans 9:9-10

Yet so many preach a different Jesus, and a different gospel. 2 Corinthians 11:4
These are those spoken of from the beginnings of the church. Jude 1:4

So if you believe in this other Jesus, you truly are not saved. Matthew 7:21-23

What is your doctrine, and why do you believe it? Is it because that is what your church teaches, or because you have studied it for yourself? Is your doctrine made up from books not inside the bible, or maybe from personal revelation? Do not be deceived by Satan in shepherd's clothing, you just might be on the wrong path.

Let me cry unto you, a holy cry, to know what you understand, and understand what you know.
In the love of Christ
Shalom

Confession with one's mouth that Jesus is ruler of all mankind, and trusting in one's heart that God raised him out of the dead is salvation.

For with the heart one believes into righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses into salvation. Romans 10:9-10

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21

This is the work of God: that you believe into the one [the father] set apart. John 6:29

Yes indeed, good post, I like it when it is kept simple. B)

On a side note, in light of the above post, look at Romans 14:11, Phil. 2:10 and 1Tim. 4:10, God's genius is quite remarkable.

We believe because we don't want to be thrown into hell. Simple as that. Everything else - theology, faith etc. - is secondary. The primary motivation is fear.

I feared a God I didn't know. I loved a God I knew.

Yes I agree. And I did mean to post Romans 10:9-10 as opposed to Romans 9:9-10. Yet my plea is to those who do not believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. (JW) Those who do not believe in a bodily assent. (Gnostic, Christian Science, New Agers) Or those who believe in extra biblical texts and becoming God yourself. (Mormons) These are all cults. Some others place praying to saints, angels, Mary, and tradition higher than Christ. Not to say all in this latter description are not saved, yet I see them walking a slippery slope. To me the Vicar of Christ is the HolySpirit.
