Do we sow Peace?

Very rarely because if we are being honest, we all like to have the last word and that implies 'winning' the conversation, debate etc.

To leave peace requires the peace of heart, mind and soul that lets others win an arguement, while concentrating on sewing seeds that challenge there convictions etc.

How can one, not sow peace, when they are one with The Prince of Peace?

Not speaking is the hardest thing mankind has to do. Not speaking into an already strife filled situation is difficult. The temptation is strong.

To pray while others wrestle and strive with hurtful words is difficult but will bear the fruit of peace. Defusing verbal bombs is a good work. Remaining quiet is a real exercise but an argument or uproar cannot continue with only one warrior.

Once in a confrontation over some trivial thing with my fifteen year old daughter (first time that ever happened right!?) she angrily stormed to her room. After a few minutes the Lord showed me what to do. Going to her room I said "come here please'. She hesitated, thinking I was going to dress her down. After she came close I enveloped her in an embrace and said" I love you very much". She then just melted and began to weep on my shoulder.

Love had overcome strife and division.

When we can humble ourselves and not demand to be Victor we show forth the love of God. Love is a powerful antidote to strife.

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, [18] May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
[19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

The one exception I see to this is when not speaking up bothers your conscience. Or love demands your efforts, where hatred would prevail otherwise. One benefit we have on most forums is the "ignore" option which used sparingly could amount to the same as kicking the dust from your feet, if done in good faith, and moving on.

Most conversations and all debates are started because of differences in (usually) opinions. Should we not find some common ground to build upon with each other and establish communication out of a loving heart so that the brother (who you feel is in error) feels compelled to give your argument a sincere thought? More likely to consider your side if they know you care. Does that mean you are compromising your beliefs? Not at all. No one lines up with your beliefs completely. But correction almost never happens by debating beliefs between those who set themselves against one another. Division is here if that’s what we dwell upon and search for in one another. The hard part is finding the common ground.

Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

But consider for discussion sake...is the word not progressive foward? If bread is not given to dogs and it (or we) stop there we miss that “the dogs eat crumbs from the masters table”.

He said He would bring a sword to divide houses and they (those houses) would fall. It is a good thing but not His House but the enemies that is to fall. His remains built on Peace. Matthew 10:34-36 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Progression of the Word forward in Him saying “tonight many will be offended because of Me” to “He who is blessed IS NOT offended in Me”. A sword to divide. Progression foward if we choose not to stay at a house divided falls to “gather in MY name” and with YOU (those that hear His voice and are called of the Father) I leave Peace. How did they go from offended to not? John 20:21-22
