There are many types and shadows found in scripture if one is given the eyes to see them.

We know the Law of Moses and the first earthly tabernacle design had many types and shadows in them by scripture. But there are also many other types and shadows found in scripture; even in many of the Bible characters.

These comparisons of types and likenesses give us some spiritual insight into many mysteries found in the scriptures. This is like comparing spiritual things with spiritual by way of the Holy Spirit, as is written.

The type and shadow here is found in the comparison between Light and darkness.

Genesis 1:4 “And God saw the light, that it was good: and God "divided" the light from the darkness.”

Genesis 1:14-16 “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven "to divide the day" from the night; and let them be "for signs", and for seasons, and for days, and years:15 And let them be "for lights" in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; "the greater light to rule the day", and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.”

The greater Light to rule the day is the Sun, which has "no shadow of turning",(James 1:17) nor a dark side.

The Sun is "a sign" of "the Sun of righteousness" ( Malachi 4:2) as Christ is the Light of the world, He is the Light that rules over "the children of the day" and light.

The moon is the lesser light to rule over the night, and the children of darkness. The only light the moon gets is from the Sun, and it also has a dark side.

Now to the scriptures....

1 John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

John 9:5 “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

John 12:46 “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of “the darkness” of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

1 Thessalonians 5:4-8 “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”

Revelation 21:23 “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

2 Samuel 22:29 “For thou art my lamp, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness.”

Psalm 18:28 “For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.”

Ecclesiastes 2:13 “Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.”

Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

Isaiah 9:2 “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”

Jeremiah 13:16 “Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.”

Amos 5:20 “Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?”

Matthew 4:16 “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.”

John 12:46 “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”

Matthew 6:23 “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”

Luke 11:35 “Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.”

John 1:5 “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

John 3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”

John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world:he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

John 12:35 “Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.”

John 9:4 “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the nightcometh, when no man can work.”

John 14:30 “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”

Acts 26:18 “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”

2 Corinthians 4:4 “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

2 Corinthians 4:6 “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Ephesians 5:8 “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:”

1 Thessalonians 5:5 “Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.”

1 John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

Luke 8:16 “No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

Matthew 5:14 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”

John 3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”

Revelation 16:10 “And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,”

By comparing spiritual things with spiritual we can better see the meaning of the mystery of "the dividing" of the Light from the darkness, even in the beginning of creation.

You would have more respect on thiese threads if you did not make those pernicious implied remarks like you did when you opened this post!

This smacks of spiritual arrogance and that if people do not see it your way, God hasn't given them eyes to see. BALDERDASH!!!!!!!!

Yes this is a valid application, but the literal is still the major-God created the light and divided it from the darkness

Isaiah 29:9-14

King James Version

9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid

Your pseudo quoting of Scripture which you accuse your brethren of being asleep and drunken is very un-Christian. You swagger like you have some especial relationship with god above all others because you have "special insight". You sound like legions of other wanna be cult leaders who have come and gone. I hope this will not be the case for you.

I have found you to be nothing more than an accuser.
Well when you sound like you have a unique special relationship withy God where He reveals secrets to you He doesn't to others, expect to be challenged. Especially when you write that if people do not agree with your reinterpretations they are blind! You should think on that. a real man of god does not do that.

You mean like this….

1 Corinthians 2:7-14

King James Version

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Or maybe like this….
John 3:11
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
So you are saying you have had a special revelation from God and are equal to the writers of Scripture? Jesus was speaking to unbelievers here, Are you accussing all who do not accept your "special revelation" as infallible info from god as unbelievers now?

I was taught by the Holy Spirit when God revealed His Son in me, but I do not compare myself to others. Everything I have, I have been given to me by the Lord. Therefore if I boast, I will boast on the Lord who has revealed these things to me.

2 Corinthians 10:12-18

King James Version

12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.
14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:
15 Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,
16 To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.
17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

Even the Apostles and especially Paul submitted themselves. If you are not part of a local church and sittting under the authority of a pastor for your maturing, you are in rebellion and a rogue Christian.
Eph. 4:
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Heb:10

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

And if you are in a local church, you sho0uld have the humility to submit these "special revelations" to those who have been charged with the care of you rsoul;

Hebrews 13:17

King James Version

17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

My authority comes from God, not from men. And I’m not seeking any man’s approval. There is One mediator between me and God and that is Jesus Christ. His approval is all I need.

Then you are a rebel Christian and denying the commands for believers found in gods word. Whewn you crash and fall and humbled by god, we will be here to help restore you and show you why you are headed for a great fall.

And I was not speaking of mans approval, but the authority Jesus gave to the elders of the church to mature the saints and watch over the souls of the flock. You have removed yourself from gods order and are living way out of order.

I showed you the Scriptures and you have opted to reject them. You will find out that yes Jesus is our mediator and we need His approval over all. But we need the gift monistry of pastor/teacher to mature. YOu reject it so that leaves you immature. You make yourself like the Apostle Paul- and there are no more apostles receiving special revelation- the bible is closed to new chapters. Sorry, No I am not sorry

Romans 8:33
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
So by Quoting Romans 8, you believe that gives you license to run roughshod over other believers and make false accusations against the brethren. Whoah are you so very sadly mistaken. I hope you come to your senses before God has to grind you down so you may learn true humility and Christian love.
