are his daughter's also referred to as young men?

Job 1:18-19
18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:
19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
KJV

If it calls them daughters in 18, but says the young men are dead in 19, Yet it says that no one but the bearer of the bad news escaped. So does this mean that the daughters were also considered young men or does it reveal that the daughters did not die?

Job 42:12-16
12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.
13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.
14 And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.
15 And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.
16 After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
KJV

Neither.

The key to this is v16. . NB: ESV renders it young people._Job 1:18-19

The masculine takes the significance as that's how a man's line continues... . Job 42:16

I know that the seed of the man is the continuance of a families bloodline and not of the woman, but if it says that the bearer of the bad news was the ONLY one who escaped did this mean that he is the only male that escaped and that Job's daughters did not die. Or is it calling all of them young men and they all died and the bearer of the bad news was the only survivor of all of them?
The fact that the three daughters also received an inheritance is very interesting.
This reminds me of how the church is called the bride, yet there are males and females so are the males considered females and the females considered son's of God?

This reminds me of a thread I authored one time entitled "Did Job exist?" Needless to say, it caused quite a stir.
I love and feel led to bring up interesting verses in the Bible that stir our desire to dig DEEPER into the amazing Word of God. : )

But don't you dare suggest it was nothing more than that. The Fightin' Fundies (bible fundamentalists) will pounce on ya!
LoL

No kidding - if it isn't literal, it must be worthless, right?

Way to dismiss all of Jesus's parables........

Check the other translations ..... KJV says .... "young men " ...... others say .... "young people" ..... others say .... "all the people"

Maybe the KJV .... "men" ... is the similar to us saying ..... "all mankind" ..... which of course includes the women too.

Probably just a matter of language.

Is there a hidden agenda in the way you have spelt my forum name? Please do not try to say it is just an abbreviation~

Isn't this what I have been saying all along, that there is neither Jew nor Gentile, male or female in the body of Christ and there are no female angels.... we are all considered male and the man child in Rev 12:5 is the true holy body of Christ(children of God/sons of God) that will be caught up to God's throne in the twinkling of an eye.

No hidden agenda at all ..... it is an abbreviation ...... you have chosen a long and difficult forum name for us to try to spell out each time .

Not only that ..... you use both letters and numbers to construct your name

Please dont accuse me of doing something unusual with your name ..... you chose it .... you started it ..... it is a handful and a mouthful ..... and besides it is completely inaccurate .... your faithfulness does not transfer over to me or anyone else ..... my faith is mine .... and your faith is yours .... thank you.

I wish more people would at least use their real first name instead of hiding behind stupid religious sounding fake names

We are supposed to be honest and forthright Christians ...... but I bet if it was mandatory that everyone use their real names on a forum .... most people would run and hide somewhere else.

I have never trusted anyone who hides behind a disguise .... it is a weakness that I have and I will never change.

So ... afaithfulone4u ..... if you could add your first name to your signature it would be very helpful.

I am sure glad I am living in a time in history when God's sanctification has been at work in the hearts of His followers for centuries. Life is so much better today than it was when characters like Job considered his family as merely part of his wealth. I could not imagine being Abraham at leading his prime piece of property, Issac up to be sacrificed - I think God spared him as a first step towards teaching His people the value of life - I am sure Issac's value in Abraham's mind turned towards love for his son rather than simply his property after that event.

Well Arnie, can I ask you what made you pick out those particular letters and number if you were just trying to abbreviate as I said you would claim?
Actually it really doesn't matter to me how you spell my name and as for forum names, There are those whom I have signed my name when speaking to them in several of my posts.
As for something to hide behind I do not seek glory for myself but the Truth of the Word is my goal and to give glory unto the Father of Spirits.
As for using real names and birth dates and all the personal info that goes on in the world through twitter, face book, youtube, and the like gossip columns that are designed by the enemy to cause slander, judgmental, division, fraud, theft, and many other sinful temptations that I choose not to be a party of for we shall all reap what we have been sowing, I keep my full name and birthdate to my self just as any other PRIVATE Personal info by a responsible person of God should do to keep from TEMPTING others.
I have NEVER seen a picture of Saul who was known just as Paul in the Gentile name but I can tell by what he says rather he is of a good character or not. A person is always known by his word.. that is why Jesus could claim to be equal with God for he is the Word of God whom we learn of our Father's will and image(attributes) . Do you happen to know Paul's last name I can't seem to find it in the Bible... but maybe you can for me? If you find it IN THE BIBLE then good we will know that he has nothing to hide. But if you don't... what will that tell us according to your theories??

And while it is against my better judgment for I do not need to please men... but please God I will let you tempt me to put my name so that you can be satisfied and have proof according to you that I am who I say I am.
Have a wonderful day~ diana
